Journal ArticleDOI
Behavioural outcomes of subthalamic stimulation and medical therapy versus medical therapy alone for Parkinson's disease with early motor complications (EARLYSTIM trial): secondary analysis of an open-label randomised trial.
Eugénie Lhommée,Lars Wojtecki,Virginie Czernecki,Virginie Czernecki,Karsten Witt,Franziska Maier,Lisa Tonder,Lars Timmermann,Thomas D. Hälbig,Fanny Pineau,Fanny Pineau,Franck Durif,Tatiana Witjas,Marcus O. Pinsker,Maximilian Mehdorn,Friederike Sixel-Döring,Andreas Kupsch,Rejko Krüger,Saskia Elben,Stephan Chabardes,Stéphane Thobois,Christine Brefel-Courbon,Fabienne Ory-Magne,J. Regis,David Maltête,Anne Sauvaget,Jörn Rau,Alfons Schnitzler,Michael Schüpbach,Carmen Schade-Brittinger,Günther Deuschl,Jean-Luc Houeto,Paul Krack,Paul Krack +33 more
TL;DR: In a large cohort with Parkinson's disease and early motor complications, better overall behavioural outcomes were noted with bilateral subthalamic stimulation plus medical therapy compared with medical therapy alone.
Journal ArticleDOI
Chronic pain and pain processing in Parkinson's disease.
TL;DR: Pain management is dependent on efforts invested in diagnostic accuracy to distinguish nociceptive from neuropathic pain, and requires an integrated approach including strategies to lessen levodopa‐related response fluctuations, in addition to other pharmacological and non‐pharmacological options such as deep brain stimulation and rehabilitation.
Journal ArticleDOI
International validation of a behavioral scale in Parkinson's disease without dementia
Isabelle Rieu,Pablo Martinez-Martin,Bruno Pereira,Ingrid de Chazeron,Leo Verhagen Metman,Marjan Jahanshahi,Claire Ardouin,Isabelle Chereau,Christine Brefel-Courbon,Fabienne Ory-Magne,Hélène Klinger,Fleur Peyrol,Michael Schüpbach,Kathy Dujardin,François Tison,Jean-Luc Houeto,Paul Krack,Franck Durif +17 more
TL;DR: The Ardouin Scale of Behavior in Parkinson's Disease is an acceptable, reproducible, valid, and precise assessment for evaluating changes in behavior in patients with Parkinson's disease without dementia.
Journal ArticleDOI
α2-Adrenoceptor Antagonists
Christine Brefel-Courbon,Claire Thalamas,Hélène Peyro Saint Paul,Jean-Michel Senard,Jean-Louis Montastruc,Olivier Rascol +5 more
TL;DR: Some preliminary experimental data support the hypothesis that noradrenergic mechanisms could be involved in the progression of Parkinson’s disease, and there is a rationale for testing the putative neuroprotective effects of (α2-adrenoceptor antagonists in this disorder.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of VPS35 mutations replicated in French families with Parkinson disease
Suzanne Lesage,Christel Condroyer,Stephan Klebe,Aurélie Honoré,François Tison,Christine Brefel-Courbon,Alexandra Durr,Alexis Brice +7 more
TL;DR: A heterozygous missense mutation is found in the vacuolar protein sorting 35 ortholog gene associated with autosomal dominant late-onset Parkinson disease and the associated phenotypes are analyzed.
