TL;DR: The data confirm the frequent occurrence of the disorder in men as well as in women and the rise in incidence with age and some evidence of geographic variation in fracture occurrence; rates were higher in Sweden than elsewhere in Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Determinants of incident vertebral fracture in men and women: results from the European Prospective Osteoporosis Study (EPOS).

Stepan,Chris Todd,K. Weber,Anthony D. Woolf,J. Reeve +44 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that modification of other lifestyle risk factors is unlikely to have a major impact on the population occurrence of vertebral fractures, and the important biological mechanisms underlying vertebral fracture risk need to be explored using new investigational strategies.
Journal ArticleDOI
A vasculitis centre based management strategy leads to improved outcome in eosinophilic granulomatosis and polyangiitis (Churg–Strauss, EGPA): monocentric experiences in 150 patients
Frank Moosig,Jan P Bremer,Bernhard Hellmich,Julia U Holle,Konstanze Holl-Ulrich,Martin Laudien,Christine Matthis,Claudia Metzler,Bernhard Nölle,Gert Richardt,Wolfgang L. Gross +10 more
TL;DR: Regular re-evaluation and target-orientated adaption of therapy may lead to normalization of life expectancy and attenuation of disease progression and Continued centre based interdisciplinary treatment should be standard of care.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of limb fracture across Europe: Results from the European prospective osteoporosis study (EPOS)

Reisinger,Christa Scheidt-Nave,Jan J. Stepan,Chris Todd,K. Weber,Anthony D. Woolf,Terence W O'Neill +45 more
TL;DR: This is the first large population-based study to characterize the incidence of limb fracture in men and women over 50 years of age across Europe and there was evidence of significant variation in the occurrence of hip, distal forearm and humerus fractures across Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Validity of self-report of fractures : Results from a prospective study in men and women across Europe
A A Ismail,Terence W O'Neill,W Cockerill,J. D. Finn,J.B. Cannata,K. Hoszowski,Olof Johnell,Christine Matthis,Heiner Raspe,A. Raspe,J. Reeve,Alan J. Silman +11 more
TL;DR: A postal questionnaire is a relatively simple and accurate method for obtaining information about the occurrence of hip and distal forearm fractures, including their timing, and where possible self-reported fractures at such sites should be verified from other sources.
