The Materials Science beamline upgrade at the Swiss Light Source
Philip R. Willmott,D. Meister,Steven J. Leake,M. Lange,Anna Bergamaschi,M. Böge,Marco Calvi,Claudia Cancellieri,Nicola Casati,Antonio Cervellino,Q. Chen,Christian David,Uwe Flechsig,Fabia Gozzo,B. Henrich,S. Jäggi-Spielmann,B. Jakob,Irakli Kalichava,Petri Karvinen,J. Krempasky,A. Lüdeke,R. Lüscher,S. Maag,Christoph Quitmann,M. L. Reinle-Schmitt,Thomas J. Schmidt,Bernd Schmitt,Andreas Streun,Ismo Vartiainen,M. Vitins,X. Wang,R. J. Wullschleger +31 more
TL;DR: The wiggler X-ray source of the Materials Science beamline at the Swiss Light Source has been replaced with a 14 mm-period cryogenically cooled in-vacuum undulator to best exploit the increased brilliance of this new source.
Journal ArticleDOI
PolLux: a new facility for soft x-ray spectromicroscopy at the Swiss Light Source.
Jörg Raabe,George Tzvetkov,Uwe Flechsig,M. Böge,A. Jaggi,Blagoj Sarafimov,Martine G.C. Vernooij,Thomas Huthwelker,Harald Ade,David Kilcoyne,Tolek Tyliszczak,Rainer H. Fink,Christoph Quitmann +12 more
TL;DR: The successful installation and operation of a scanning transmission x-ray microspectroscope (STXM) at the PolLux facility at the Swiss Light Source provides unique capabilities.
Journal ArticleDOI
Diffraction-limited storage rings - a window to the science of tomorrow.
TL;DR: This article summarizes the contributions in this special issue on Diffraction-Limited Storage Rings and analyses the progress in accelerator technology enabling a significant increase in brightness and coherent fraction of the X-ray light provided by storage rings.
Journal ArticleDOI
X-Treme beamline at SLS: X-ray magnetic circular and linear dichroism at high field and low temperature
Cinthia Piamonteze,Uwe Flechsig,Stefano Rusponi,Jan Dreiser,J. Heidler,Marcus Schmidt,R. Wetter,Marco Calvi,Thomas J. Schmidt,Helena Pruchova,J. Krempasky,Christoph Quitmann,Harald Brune,Frithjof Nolting +13 more
TL;DR: The beamline commissioning measurements, which show a resolving power of 8000 and a maximum flux at the sample of 4.7 × 10(12) photons s(-1), are presented and scientific examples showing X-ray magnetic circular and X-Ray magnetic linear dichroism measurements are presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
Quantitative analysis of magnetic excitations in Landau flux-closure structures using synchrotron-radiation microscopy.
Jörg Raabe,Christoph Quitmann,Christian H. Back,Frithjof Nolting,Steven L. Johnson,C. Buehler +5 more
TL;DR: The excitation spectrum of six micron magnetic squares is measured using x-ray magnetic circular dichroism and precessional motion of the magnetization within the domains as well as a domain wall mode and vortex motion is observed.
