Journal ArticleDOI
Fibroblast Growth Factor 23 and Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Chronic Kidney Disease
Orlando M. Gutiérrez,James L. Januzzi,Tamara Isakova,Karen Laliberte,Kelsey Smith,Gina Collerone,Ammar Sarwar,Udo Hoffmann,Erin Coglianese,Robert H. Christenson,Thomas J. Wang,Christopher DeFilippi,Myles Wolf +12 more
TL;DR: FGF-23 is independently associated withleft ventricular mass index and left ventricular hypertrophy in patients with CKD, and whether increased FGF- 23 is a marker or a potential mechanism of myocardial hyperTrophy in CKD requires further study.
Journal ArticleDOI
Association of serial measures of cardiac troponin T using a sensitive assay with incident heart failure and cardiovascular mortality in older adults
Christopher DeFilippi,James A. de Lemos,Robert H. Christenson,John S. Gottdiener,Willem J. Kop,Min Zhan,Stephen L. Seliger +6 more
TL;DR: In this article, a longitudinal nationwide cohort study (Cardiovascular health study) was conducted to determine if cardiac troponin T (cTnT) measured by a highly sensitive assay would be detectable in the majority of community-dwelling older adults, and if serial measures were associated with risk of new-onset heart failure and cardiovascular death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardiac troponin T and C-reactive protein for predicting prognosis, coronary atherosclerosis, and cardiomyopathy in patients undergoing long-term hemodialysis.
Christopher DeFilippi,Steven S. Wasserman,Salvatore Rosanio,Eric Tiblier,Heidi Sperger,Monica Tocchi,Robert H. Christenson,Barry F. Uretsky,Mathew M. Smiley,Judith H. Gold,Henry Muniz,John Badalamenti,Charles A. Herzog,William L. Henrich +13 more
TL;DR: Both cTnT and CRP remained independent predictors of death after adjusting for a number of potential confounders, and among stable patients with ESRD, increasing levels of cTNT andCRP are associated with increased risk of death.
Journal ArticleDOI
Recommendations on pre-hospital & early hospital management of acute heart failure: a consensus paper from the Heart Failure Association of the European Society of Cardiology, the European Society of Emergency Medicine and the Society of Academic Emergency Medicine
Alexandre Mebazaa,M. Birhan Yilmaz,Phillip D. Levy,Piotr Ponikowski,W. Frank Peacock,Said Laribi,Arsen D. Ristić,Ekaterini Lambrinou,Josep Masip,Jillian P. Riley,Theresa McDonagh,Christian Mueller,Christopher DeFilippi,Veli-Pekka Harjola,Holger Thiele,Massimo F Piepoli,Marco Metra,Aldo P. Maggioni,John J.V. McMurray,Kenneth Dickstein,Kevin Damman,Petar M. Seferovic,Frank Ruschitzka,Adelino F. Leite-Moreira,Abdelouahab Bellou,Abdelouahab Bellou,Stefan D. Anker,Stefan D. Anker,Gerasimos Filippatos +28 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors provide guidance to practicing physicians and nurses to manage acute heart failure in the pre-hospital and hospital setting, including criteria of hospitalization and of discharge, and gaps in knowledge and perspectives.
Journal ArticleDOI
Multicenter Evaluation of a 0-Hour/1-Hour Algorithm in the Diagnosis of Myocardial Infarction With High-Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin T.
Christian Mueller,Evangelos Giannitsis,Michael Christ,Jorge Ordonez-Llanos,Christopher DeFilippi,James McCord,Richard Body,Mauro Panteghini,Tomas Jernberg,Mario Plebani,Franck Verschuren,John K. French,Robert H. Christenson,Silvia Weiser,Garnet Bendig,Peter Dilba,Bertil Lindahl +16 more
TL;DR: The recently developed 0-h/1-h algorithm, using high-sensitivity cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) for the early rule-out and rule-in of acute myocardial infarction performs well.
