TL;DR: The Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury (PHT) as mentioned in this paper is an ongoing Hubble Space Telescope Multi-Cycle Treasury program to image ~1/3 of M31's star-forming disk in six filters, spanning from the ultraviolet (UV) to the near-infrared (NIR).

TL;DR: The Panchromatic Hubble Andromeda Treasury (PHAT) as discussed by the authors is an on-going HST Multicycle Treasury program to image ~1/3 of M31's star forming disk in 6 filters, from the UV to the NIR.

The splash survey: spectroscopy of 15 m31 dwarf spheroidal satellite galaxies*
Erik Tollerud,Rachael L. Beaton,Rachael L. Beaton,Marla Geha,James S. Bullock,Puragra Guhathakurta,Jason S. Kalirai,Jason S. Kalirai,Steven R. Majewski,Steven R. Majewski,Evan N. Kirby,Karoline M. Gilbert,B. Yniguez,Richard J. Patterson,Richard J. Patterson,James C. Ostheimer,James C. Ostheimer,Jeff Cooke,Claire E. Dorman,Abrar Choudhury,Michael C. Cooper +20 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a resolved star spectroscopic survey of 15 dwarf spheroidal (dSph) satellites of the Andromeda galaxy (M31) is presented, where foreground contamination from Milky Way (MW) stars, noting that MW substructure is evident in this contaminant sample, is used to determine the kinematical properties of the dSphs.
Journal ArticleDOI
The SPLASH Survey: Spectroscopy of 15 M31 Dwarf Spheroidal Satellite Galaxies
Erik Tollerud,Rachael L. Beaton,Rachael L. Beaton,Marla Geha,James S. Bullock,Puragra Guhathakurta,Jason S. Kalirai,Jason S. Kalirai,Steven R. Majewski,Steven R. Majewski,Evan N. Kirby,Karoline M. Gilbert,B. Yniguez,Richard J. Patterson,Richard J. Patterson,James C. Ostheimer,James C. Ostheimer,Jeff Cooke,Claire E. Dorman,Abrar Choudhury,Michael C. Cooper +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, a resolved-star spectroscopic survey of 15 dwarf spheroidal (dSph) satellites of the Andromeda Galaxy (M31) as part of the Spectroscopic and Photometric Landscape of Andromeda's Stellar Halo (SPLASH) project was presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
A clear age–velocity dispersion correlation in andromeda’s stellar disk
Claire E. Dorman,Puragra Guhathakurta,Anil C. Seth,Daniel R. Weisz,Eric F. Bell,Julianne J. Dalcanton,Karoline M. Gilbert,Katherine M. Hamren,Alexia R. Lewis,Evan D. Skillman,Elisa Toloba,Benjamin F. Williams +11 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors measured the stellar age-velocity dispersion correlation in the inner 20 kpc of M31 and showed that it is dramatically different from that in the Milky Way (MW).
