Comparison between silver and gold nanoparticles stabilized with negatively charged hydrophilic thiols: SR-XPS and SERS as probes for structural differences and similarities

TL;DR: In this article, the electronic and molecular structure of noble metal nanoparticles (AgNPs, AuNPs) stabilized by the negatively charged hydrophilic organic thiol Sodium 3-mercapto-1-propanesulfonate (3-MPS) was probed combining Synchrotron Radiation-induced X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (SR-XPS) and Surface Enhanced Raman Spectrograph (SERS).
Journal ArticleDOI

Exploring the potentiality of a SERS-active pH nano-biosensor

TL;DR: The detailed characterization of a case study SERS-active pH nanosensor, based on the conjugation of gold nanoparticles with the pH-sensitive molecular probe 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (4MBA), which was successfully employed to measure the extracellular pH of normal and cancer cells, demonstrating the capability to discriminate between them.
Journal ArticleDOI

Raman spectroscopy of graphene under ultrafast laser excitation.

TL;DR: The Raman spectrum of graphene under ultrafast laser excitation with 3 ps pulses is studied, which trade off between impulsive stimulation and spectral resolution, important for the emerging field of graphene-based photonics and optoelectronics.
