Regional climate downscaling over Europe: perspectives from the EURO-CORDEX community

Daniela Jacob, +69 more
TL;DR: The European CORDEX (EURO-CORDEX) initiative as discussed by the authors is a large voluntary effort that seeks to advance regional climate and Earth system science in Europe, which includes the design and coordination of ongoing ensembles of regional climate projections of unprecedented size and resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Future heat waves over the Mediterranean from an Euro-CORDEX regional climate model ensemble

TL;DR: This work is the first work based on Euro-CORDEX simulations to fully analyze future heat waves in the Mediterranean from an ensemble of Regional Climate Models and indicates a large increase by the end of the century in both intensity and length of heat waves from all emissions scenarios, global models, and regional models at any resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

A multi-step scheme for spatial analysis of solar and photovoltaic production variability and complementarity

TL;DR: In this paper, a comprehensive methodology to analyze variability and complementarity of solar resource and PV production among sub-regions of a wide area is developed, where the photovoltaic energy yield is defined as kWh per kW installed, which facilitates the comparison among sub regions and allows a comparison with other renewable energies like solar thermoelectric or wind energy.
