TL;DR: The European CORDEX (EURO-CORDEX) initiative as discussed by the authors is a large voluntary effort that seeks to advance regional climate and Earth system science in Europe, which includes the design and coordination of ongoing ensembles of regional climate projections of unprecedented size and resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present the first-of-its-kind ensemble climate experiments of convection permitting models to investigate present and future convective processes and related extremes over Europe and the Mediterranean.
Journal ArticleDOI
Regional climate hindcast simulations within EURO-CORDEX: evaluation of a WRF multi-physics ensemble
Eleni Katragkou,Markel García-Díez,Robert Vautard,Stefan Sobolowski,Prodromos Zanis,Georgia Alexandri,Rita M. Soares,Ioannis Pytharoulis,Ioannis Tegoulias,Athanasios Tsikerdekis,Daniela Jacob +19 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present six hindcast WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting model) simulations for the EURO-CORDEX (European Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment) domain with different configurations in microphysics, convection and radiation for the time period 1990-2008.
Journal ArticleDOI
Land-atmosphere coupling in EURO-CORDEX evaluation experiments
Sebastian Knist,Klaus Goergen,Erasmo Buonomo,Ole Bøssing Christensen,Augustin Colette,Rita M. TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used eddy covariance data acquired by the FLUXNET community to support the EuroO•CORDEX initiative. But the authors did not consider the use of the data in their work.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evaluation and projected changes of precipitation statistics in convection-permitting WRF climate simulations over Central Europe
TL;DR: This paper performed simulations with the WRF regional climate model at 12 and 3-km grid resolution for the current and future climates over Central Europe and evaluated their added value with a focus on the daily cycle and frequency distribution of rainfall and the relation between extreme precipitation and air temperature.
