Regional climate downscaling over Europe: perspectives from the EURO-CORDEX community

Daniela Jacob, +69 more
TL;DR: The European CORDEX (EURO-CORDEX) initiative as discussed by the authors is a large voluntary effort that seeks to advance regional climate and Earth system science in Europe, which includes the design and coordination of ongoing ensembles of regional climate projections of unprecedented size and resolution.
Journal ArticleDOI

Climate change projections for the Middle East–North Africa domain with COSMO-CLM at different spatial resolutions

TL;DR: In this article, projected changes in the future climate conditions for the Middle East-North Africa domain over the 21st century have been investigated, and two simulations with the COSMO-CLM model have been conducted respectively, at a spatial resolution of 0.44° and 0.22°, over the period 1979-2100, employing the IPCC RCP4.5 scenario.
Journal ArticleDOI

High-resolution climate simulations with COSMO-CLM over Italy: performance evaluation and climate projections for the 21st century

TL;DR: In this paper, the results of dynamically downscaled climate simulations over Italy produced with the COSMO-CLM model were analyzed in terms of 2-m temperature and precipitation with the aim of assessing the model's ability to reproduce these important features of the Italian climate.
Journal ArticleDOI

The first multi-model ensemble of regional climate simulations at kilometer-scale resolution, part I: evaluation of precipitation

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented the first multi-model ensemble of regional climate simulations at kilometer-scale horizontal grid spacing over a decade long period, and compared with available high-resolution precipitation observations and coarse resolution (∼ 12 km) RCMs with parameterized convection.
Journal ArticleDOI

Extreme temperature and precipitation events over Italy: assessment of high-resolution simulations with COSMO-CLM and future scenarios

TL;DR: In this article, a detailed analysis of the present and expected future extreme climate conditions over Italy through the use of some extreme indicators was presented, using the regional climate model COSMO-CLM.
