Journal ArticleDOI
The finer points of urban adaptation: intraspecific variation in lizard claw morphology
TL;DR: It is found that urban lizards undergo a shift in claw shape in the same direction but varying magnitude across species, which supports the intriguing possibility that urban environments may lead to predictable convergent adaptive change.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sex-specific microhabitat use is associated with sex-biased thermal physiology in Anolis lizards.
Michael L. Logan,Michael L. Logan,Lauren K. Neel,Daniel J. Nicholson,Daniel J. Nicholson,Andrew J. Stokes,Christina L. Miller,Albert K. Chung,Albert K. Chung,John David Curlis,John David Curlis,Kaitlin M. Keegan,Adam A Rosso,Inbar Maayan,Edite Folfas,Claire E. Williams,Brianna Casement,Maria A. Gallegos Koyner,Dylan J. Padilla Perez,Cleo H. Falvey,Sean M. Alexander,Kristin L. Charles,Zackary A. Graham,W. Owen McMillan,Jonathan B. Losos,Christian L. Cox +25 more
TL;DR: The results suggest that sexual dimorphism in thermal physiology can arise from phenotypic plasticity or sex-specific selection on traits that are linked to thermal tolerance, rather than from direct effects of thermal environments experienced by males and females.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ectoparasite extinction in simplified lizard assemblages during experimental island invasion.
Christian L. Cox,Christian L. Cox,Sean M. Alexander,Brianna Casement,Albert K. Chung,Albert K. Chung,John David Curlis,John David Curlis,Zachariah Degon,Madeline Dubois,Cleo H. Falvey,Zackary A. Graham,Edita Folfas,Maria A. Gallegos Koyner,Lauren K. Neel,Daniel J. Nicholson,Dylan J. Padilla Perez,Xochitl Ortiz-Ross,Xochitl Ortiz-Ross,Adam A Rosso,Quinn Taylor,Timothy J. Thurman,Timothy J. Thurman,Timothy J. Thurman,Claire E. Williams,W. Owen McMillan,W. Owen McMillan,Michael L. Logan,Michael L. Logan +28 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that native species can be ‘enemy reservoirs’ that facilitate co-colonization of ectoparasites with the invasive host, and that the presence of intact and diverse native communities may help to curb invasiveness.
Journal ArticleDOI
Building Undergraduate Life Science Research Skills Remotely, During and Beyond a Pandemic
TL;DR: In this article , the authors designed two rounds of remote programming aimed to build students' life science research skills and provide opportunities for mentoring and networking, and participants received a certificate of completion for their resumes and a letter of recommendation which could be used to apply for future research experiences.
Cointegration of SARS-CoV-2 Transmission with Weather Conditions and Mobility during the First Year of the COVID-19 Pandemic in the United States (preprint)
Hong Qin,Syed Mohammed Tareq,William Torres,Mary Christine. Doman,Cleo H. Falvey,Jamaree Moore,Meng-Hsiu Tsai,Yingfeng Wang,Azad Hossain,Mengjun Xie,Li Yang +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper , the authors examined the cointegration of virus transmission with daily temperature, dewpoint, and confounding factors of mobility measurements during the first year of the pandemic in the United States.
