TL;DR: Reversibly injured regions can demonstrate persistent diastolic dysfunction despite complete systolic functional recovery after reperfused AMI, and tagged magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) strain rate analysis provides detailed mechanical characterisation of regions with different degrees of myocardial ischaemic injury.
