Morphological and Chemical Tuning of High-Energy-Density Metal Oxides for Lithium Ion Battery Electrode Applications

TL;DR: In this paper, the precise roles and effects of controllably varying not only morphology but also chemistry as a means of advancing, ameliorating, and fundamentally tuning the development and evolution of Fe3O4, Li4Ti5O12, TiO2, and LiV3O8 as viable and ubiquitous energy storage materials are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phase stability of thermal barrier coatings made from 8 wt.% yttria stabilized zirconia: A technical note

TL;DR: In this article, phase stability in 8 wt.% PSZ coatings with a porous and cracked microstructure was studied for times of up to 10 000 h at temperatures of 982 °C, 1204 °C and 1315 °C.
Journal ArticleDOI

Correlating the chemical composition and size of various metal oxide substrates with the catalytic activity and stability of as-deposited Pt nanoparticles for the methanol oxidation reaction

TL;DR: In this paper, the performance of electrode materials in conventional direct alcohol fuel cells (DAFC) is constrained by the low activity of the catalyst materials relative to their overall cost, poisoning of the active sites due to the presence of partially oxidized carbon species (such as CO, formate, and acetate) produced during small molecule oxidation, and the lack of catalytic stability and durability on the underlying commercial carbon support.
