Journal ArticleDOI

Nonlinear Optics for High-Speed Digital Information Processing.

TL;DR: Recent advances in developing nonlinear optical techniques for processing serial digital information at high speed are reviewed and expected to become important in future high-capacity communications networks.
Journal ArticleDOI

Self-routing of 100 Gbit/s packets using 6 bit 'keyword' address recognition

TL;DR: The authors report the first demonstration of all-optical header recognition and self-routing of ultrafast packets with multibit addresses and a single optical AND gate recognises 6 bit ‘keyword’ codes, allowing self- routing of 100 Gbit/s packets.
Journal ArticleDOI

A 135-km 8192-Split Carrier Distributed DWDM-TDMA PON With 2 $\,\times\,$ 32 $\,\times\,$ 10 Gb/s Capacity

TL;DR: In this article, a hybrid dense wavelength-division-multiplexed time-division multiple access passive optical network (DWDM-TDMA PON) with record performance in terms of reach (135.1 km of which 124 km were field-installed fibers), number of supported optical network units (ONUs-8192) and capacity (symmetric 320 Gb/s).
Proceedings ArticleDOI

Demonstration of a carrier distributed, 8192-split hybrid DWDM-TDMA PON over 124km field-installed fibers

TL;DR: In this paper, a DWDM-TDMA PON using carrier distribution with symmetric 320Gb/s capacity is demonstrated over 124km field-installed fibers, and the upstream channels feature a 3R 10G/s burst-mode receiver with electronic dispersion compensation, burstmode EDFAs and integrated reflective SOA-EAMs.
