The ROTSE-III Robotic Telescope System
Carl W. Akerlof,Michael C. B. Ashley,Donald E. Casperson,Harland W. Epps,Robert Kehoe,S. L. Marshall,Katherine E. McGowan,Timothy A. McKay,M. A. Phillips,E. S. Rykoff,J. A. Schier,D. Smith,W. T. Vestrand,P. R. Wozniak,J. Wren +14 more
TL;DR: The Robotic Optical Transient Search Experiment (ROTSE) as discussed by the authors has developed a next-generation instrument, ROTSE-III, that will continue the search for fast optical transients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Evidence for a Sudden Magnetic Field Reconfiguration in Soft Gamma Repeater 1900+14
P. M. Woods,P. M. Woods,Chryssa Kouveliotou,Chryssa Kouveliotou,Ersin Gogus,Ersin Gogus,Mark H. Finger,Mark H. Finger,Jean H. Swank,D. Smith,Kevin Hurley,Christopher Thompson +11 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors report on the detection of large flux changes in the persistent X-ray flux of SGR 1900+14 during its burst active episode in 1998 and find that the pulse shape changed to a near sinusoidal profile within the tail of the August 27th flare (in gamma-rays) and this effect has persisted for more than 1.5 years.
Journal ArticleDOI
Light Curves and Radio Structure of the 1999 September Transient Event in V4641 Sagittarii (=XTE J1819-254=SAX J1819.3-2525)

TL;DR: In this paper, radio observations of the 1999 September event of the X-ray transient V4641 Sgr were reported, which is the closest superluminal jet source known.

Chaty,Ian Smail,Andrew Blain,J. H. Hough,S. Young,Nicholas B. Suntzeff +43 more
TL;DR: In this article, a previously unknown X-ray source was detected in the GRB error box, assuming a power-law decline, and the decay index α 1.50 ± 0.11.
