Connexins in mammalian heart function
Daniel Gros,Habo J. Jongsma +1 more
TL;DR: Recent data dealing with the topographical heterogeneity of expression of these connexins in the different cardiac tissues and the unique conductance properties of the channels they form are reviewed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression Pattern of Connexin Gene Products at the Early Developmental Stages of the Mouse Cardiovascular System
Bruno Delorme,Edgar Dahl,Thérèse Jarry-Guichard,Jean-Paul Briand,Klaus Willecke,Daniel Gros,Magali Théveniau-Ruissy +6 more
TL;DR: During the early stages of mouse heart maturation, between 8.5 days post coitum (dpc), when the first rhythmic contractions appear, and 14.5 dpc, there is clearly a temporary and asymmetrical regionalization of the Cx40 gene expression that is superimposed on the functional regionalization.
Journal ArticleDOI
Mouse model of SCN5A-linked hereditary lenègre's disease : Age-related conduction slowing and myocardial fibrosis
Anne Royer,Toon A.B. van Veen,Sabrina Le Bouter,Céline Marionneau,Violaine Griol-Charhbili,Anne-Laure Leoni,Marja Steenman,Harold V.M. van Rijen,Sophie Demolombe,C. A. Goddard,Christine Richer,Brigitte Escoubet,Thérèse Jarry-Guichard,William H. Colledge,Daniel Gros,Jacques M.T. de Bakker,Andrew A. Grace,Denis Escande,Flavien Charpentier +18 more
TL;DR: This work provides the first demonstration that a monogenic ion channel defect can progressively lead to myocardial structural anomalies, including progressive impairment with aging of atrial and ventricular conduction associated withMyocardial rearrangements and fibrosis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Altered Pattern of Vascular Connexin Expression in Atherosclerotic Plaques
TL;DR: Vascular connexins are differentially expressed by atheroma-associated cells within lesions within lesions in mouse and human atherosclerotic plaques, suggesting a role for gap junctional intercellular communication during atherogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Differential expression of gap junction connexins in endocrine and exocrine glands
Paolo Meda,Michael S. Pepper,Otto Traub,Klaus Willecke,Daniel Gros,Eric C. Beyer,Bruce J. Nicholson,David L. Paul,Lelio Orci +8 more
TL;DR: The observation that an endocrine gland that discharges secretory products extracellularly before releasing them in the vascular compartment expresses both Cx43 and Cx32 suggests that the differential expression of gap junction connexins may be required to specify the endocrine or exocrine differentiation of a secretory cell.
