Journal ArticleDOI
Nanometer Resolution Elemental Mapping in Graphene-Based TEM Liquid Cells.
Daniel J. Kelly,Mingwei Zhou,Nick Clark,Matthew J. Hamer,Edward A. Lewis,Alexander M. Rakowski,Sarah J. Haigh,Roman V. Gorbachev +7 more
TL;DR: An order of magnitude improvement in the analytical capabilities compared to previous liquid cell data with 1 nm spatial resolution elemental mapping achievable for liquid encapsulated bimetallic nanoparticles using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDXS).
Journal ArticleDOI
Raman Fingerprints of Graphene Produced by Anodic Electrochemical Exfoliation
Vaiva Nagyte,Daniel J. Kelly,Alexandre Felten,Gennaro Picardi,Yuyoung Shin,Adriana Alieva,Robyn Worsley,Khaled Parvez,Simone Dehm,Ralph Krupke,Ralph Krupke,Sarah J. Haigh,Antonios Oikonomou,Andrew J. Pollard,Cinzia Casiraghi +14 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that no information on the thickness can be extracted from the shape of the 2D peak as this type of graphene is defective, and the Raman analysis provides guidance for the community on how to get information on defects coming from electrolyte, temperature and other experimental conditions, by making Raman spectroscopy a powerful metrology tool.
Journal ArticleDOI
Two-dimensional covalent crystals by chemical conversion of thin van der Waals materials
Vishnu Sreepal,Mehmet Yagmurcukardes,K. S. Vasu,Daniel J. Kelly,Sarah F. R. Taylor,Vasyl G. Kravets,Zakhar R. Kudrynskyi,Zakhar D. Kovalyuk,Amalia Patanè,Alexander N. Grigorenko,Sarah J. Haigh,Christopher Hardacre,Laurence Eaves,Hasan Sahin,Andre K. Geim,François M. Peeters,Rahul R. Nair +16 more
TL;DR: The concept of chemical conversion of cleavable thin van der Waals crystals into covalently bonded noncleavable ones opens exciting prospects for synthesizing a wide variety of novel atomically thin covalent crystals.
Journal ArticleDOI
Porous Silica-Pillared MXenes with Controllable Interlayer Distances for Long-Life Na-Ion Batteries.
Philip A. Maughan,Valerie R. Seymour,Ramón Bernardo-Gavito,Daniel J. Kelly,Shouqi Shao,Supakorn Tantisriyanurak,Robert Dawson,Sarah J. Haigh,Robert J. Young,Nuria Tapia-Ruiz,Nuno Bimbo +10 more
TL;DR: A new amine-assisted pillaring methodology is reported that successfully intercalates silica-based pillars between Ti3C2 layers, providing a new approach to optimizing their properties for a range of applications, including energy storage, conversion, catalysis, and gas separations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Synthesis of Bi2-2xSb2xS3 (0 ≤ x ≤ 1) Solid Solutions from Solventless Thermolysis of Metal Xanthate Precursors
Tahani Alqahtani,Malik Dilshad Khan,Daniel J. Kelly,Sarah J. Haigh,David J. Lewis,Paul O'Brien +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, tris(O-ethylxanthate)bismuth (III) and tris (O-methylxanthates)antimony(III) (2) were synthesized and used as precursors for the preparation of Bi2−2xSb 2xS3 alloys.
