Journal ArticleDOI
Optical and microstructural studies of InGaN∕GaN single-quantum-well structures
Darren M. Graham,A. Soltani-Vala,Phil Dawson,M. J. Godfrey,Tim Michael Smeeton,Jonathan S. Barnard,Menno J. Kappers,Colin J. Humphreys,Ej Thrush +8 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the Huang-Rhys factor extracted from the Fabry-Perot interference-free photoluminescence spectra has been compared with the results of a model calculation, yielding a value of approximately 2nm for the in-plane localization length scale of carriers.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Stuart K. Stubbs as discussed by the authors, Ben F. Spencer, 1,2 Wendy R. Flavell, 1 Paul Glarvey,3 Ombretta Masala,3 Nigel L. Pickett,3 and David J. O. Binks
Journal ArticleDOI
A greener route to photoelectrochemically active PbS nanoparticles
Javeed Akhtar,M. Azad Malik,Paul O'Brien,K. G. U. Wijayantha,R. Dharmadasa,Samantha J. O. Hardman,Darren M. Graham,Ben F. Spencer,Ben F. Spencer,Stuart Stubbs,Wendy R. Flavell,David J. Binks,Fausto Sirotti,Mario El Kazzi,Mathieu G. Silly +14 more
TL;DR: In this article, a cheap and more environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of high quality PbS nanoparticles in olive oil at 60 °C has been developed, where carefully controlling the conditions of reactions leads to nanoparticles with well-defined sizes, and band gaps between 1.72 and 0.88 eV.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electronic and surface properties of PbS nanoparticles exhibiting efficient multiple exciton generation
Samantha J. O. Hardman,Darren M. Graham,Stuart Stubbs,Ben F. Spencer,Ben F. Spencer,E. A. Seddon,Ho-Ting Fung,Sandra Gardonio,Fausto Sirotti,Mathieu G. Silly,Javeed Akhtar,Paul O'Brien,David J. Binks,Wendy R. Flavell +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used ultrafast transient absorption measurements to study multiple exciton generation in solutions of PbS nanoparticles vigorously stirred to avoid the effects of photocharging.
Journal ArticleDOI
Time-resolved surface photovoltage measurements at n-type photovoltaic surfaces: Si(111) and ZnO(101 0)
Ben F. Spencer,Darren M. Graham,Samantha J. O. Hardman,E. A. Seddon,E. A. Seddon,Matthew J. Cliffe,Karen L. Syres,Andrew G. Thomas,Stuart Stubbs,Fausto Sirotti,Mathieu G. Silly,Paul Kirkham,A. R. Kumarasinghe,G.J. Hirst,Andrew Moss,Stephen F. Hill,David A. Shaw,Swapan Chattopadhyay,Swapan Chattopadhyay,Swapan Chattopadhyay,Wendy R. Flavell +20 more
TL;DR: In this article, the time-resolved change in the surface potential upon photoexcitation has been measured in two n-type photovoltaics, Si (111) 7×7 and ZnO (101[over ¯]0), using two different laser pump-synchrotron x-ray probe methodologies.
