Frank C. Arnett,Steven M. Edworthy,Daniel A. Bloch,Dennis J. McShane,James F. Fries,Norman S. Cooper,L. A. Healey,Stephen R. Kaplan,Matthew H. Liang,Harvinder S. Luthra,Thomas A. Medsger,Donald M. Mitchell,David H. Neustadt,Robert S. Pinals,Jane G. Schaller,John T. Sharp,Ronald L. Wilder,Gene G. Hunder +17 more
TL;DR: The revised criteria for the classification of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) were formulated from a computerized analysis of 262 contemporary, consecutively studied patients with RA and 262 control subjects with rheumatic diseases other than RA (non-RA).
Journal ArticleDOI
Intra-articular injections for osteoarthritis of the knee.
TL;DR: If usual medical measures fail to control the pain of knee osteoarthritis and allow the patient to cope with its symptoms, intra-articular injections of a corticosteroid, a hyaluronan, or both can be tried.
Journal ArticleDOI
Serum tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase isoforms in rheumatoid arthritis.
Anthony J. Janckila,David H. Neustadt,Yuri R. Nakasato,Jussi M. Halleen,Teuvo Hentunen,Lung T. Yam,Lung T. Yam +6 more
TL;DR: Increased total TRACP protein in RA sera was probably due to TRACP-5a and not derived from osteoclasts Rather, it could be a secreted product of inflammatory macrophages and DC.
Journal Article
Clinical effects of intraarticular injection of high molecular weight hyaluronan (Orthovisc) in osteoarthritis of the knee: a randomized, controlled, multicenter trial.
TL;DR: The findings indicate that HMW hyaluronan is safe and seems to be effective in the treatment of mild to severe OA of the knee.
Journal ArticleDOI
Significance of serum TRACP in rheumatoid arthritis.
TL;DR: Human serum contains two related isoforms of TRACP that could be useful disease markers in RA; TRACP 5a protein may be a measure of systemic inflammatory macrophage burden and disease severity andTRACP 5b activity is a marker for osteoclast number and perhaps local or systemic bone destruction.
