SGK integrates insulin and mineralocorticoid regulation of epithelial sodium transport.

TL;DR: It is shown that PI3K is required for SGK-dependent stimulation of ENaC-mediated Na+ transport as well as for the production of the phosphorylated form of SGK, which suggests that SGK is a PI3k-dependent integrator of insulin and mineralocorticoid actions that interacts with EN aC subunits to control Na+ entry into kidney collecting duct cells.

TL;DR: Measurement of sodium uptake in a Xenopus oocyte expression system found that serum and glucocorticoid-induced kinase 1 (SGK1), an aldosterone-responsive gene expressed in the DN, attenuated the inhibitory effect of WNK4 on NCC activity.

Structure and function of the chromogranin A gene. Clues to evolution and tissue-specific expression.

TL;DR: The results suggest that this complex gene is encoded by exon modules with evolutionary links to homologous modules in other chromogranin/secretogran in protein family members, and that the 5'-flanking region of the gene is sufficient to confer neuroendocrine tissue-specific expression of the chromogrannin A gene.
