Journal ArticleDOI
Lectin-type oxidized LDL receptor-1 distinguishes population of human polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells in cancer patients
Thomas Condamine,George A. Dominguez,Je-In Youn,Andrew V. Kossenkov,Sridevi Mony,Kevin Alicea-Torres,Evgenii N. Tcyganov,Ayumi Hashimoto,Yulia Nefedova,Cindy Lin,Simona Partlova,Alfred L. Garfall,Dan T. Vogl,Xiaowei Xu,Stella C. Knight,George Malietzis,Gui Han Lee,Evgeniy Eruslanov,Steven M. Albelda,Xianwei Wang,Jawahar L. Mehta,Meenakshi Bewtra,Anil K. Rustgi,Neil Hockstein,Robert L Witt,Gregory A. Masters,Brian Nam,Denis Smirnov,Manuel A. Sepulveda,Dmitry I. Gabrilovich +29 more
TL;DR: A specific marker of human PMN-MDSC associated with ER stress and lipid metabolism is identified, which provides new insights into the biology and potential therapeutic targeting of these cells.
PatentDOI
Global gene expression profiling of circulating tumor cells
TL;DR: A novel approach for the identification of molecular markers to detect and characterize CTCs in peripheral blood and it is shown that gene expression profiles for C TCs may be used to distinguish normal donors from advanced cancer patients as well as to differentiate among the three different metastatic cancers.
Journal ArticleDOI
Microfluidics and Circulating Tumor Cells
Yi Dong,Alison Skelley,Keith D. Merdek,Kam Sprott,Chunsheng Jiang,William E. Pierceall,Jessie Lin,Michael Stocum,Walter P. Carney,Denis Smirnov +9 more
TL;DR: This review focuses on various microfluidic approaches that have been applied to date to capture CTCs from the blood of patients with cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Isolation and Characterization of Circulating Tumor Cells in Patients with Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
Steven J. Cohen,R. Katherine Alpaugh,Steve Gross,Shawn Mark O'hara,Denis Smirnov,Leon W.M.M. Terstappen,W. Jeffrey Allard,Maryann Bilbee,Jonathan D. Cheng,John P. Hoffman,Nancy L. Lewis,Ann Pellegrino,Andre Rogatko,Elin R. Sigurdson,Hao Wang,James C. Watson,Louis M. Weiner,Neal J. Meropol +17 more
TL;DR: Isolating and characterizing CTCs from patients with metastatic CRC is feasible, change in the CTC number might reflect clinical status, and flow cytometric and gene expression data suggest similarity of circulating and in situ tumor cells.
Journal ArticleDOI
Global Gene Expression Profiling of Circulating Endothelial Cells in Patients with Metastatic Carcinomas
Denis Smirnov,Bradley W. Foulk,Gerald V. Doyle,Mark Connelly,Leon W.M.M. Terstappen,S. Mark O'Hara +5 more
TL;DR: In this article, a list of 61 marker genes for CEC detection was generated, and their expression was measured by real-time quantitative PCR in blood samples from 81 metastatic cancer patients and 55 healthy donors that were immunomagnetically enriched for the CECs.
