Journal ArticleDOI
The intestinal virome of malabsorption syndrome-affected and unaffected broilers through shotgun metagenomics.
Diane Alves de Lima,Samuel Paulo Cibulski,Caroline Tochetto,Ana Paula Muterle Varela,Fabrine Finkler,Thais Fumaco Teixeira,Márcia Regina Loiko,Cristine Cerva,Dennis Maletich Junqueira,Fabiana Quoos Mayer,Paulo Michel Roehe +10 more
TL;DR: The findings indicate no association between the occurrence of MAS and enteric viruses, and the viral genomes reported in the present study seem part of the normal intestinal microbiota of chickens.
Journal ArticleDOI
Faecal virome of healthy chickens reveals a large diversity of the eukaryote viral community, including novel circular ssDNA viruses.
Diane Alves de Lima,Samuel Paulo Cibulski,Fabrine Finkler,Thais Fumaco Teixeira,Ana Paula Muterle Varela,Cristine Cerva,Márcia Regina Loiko,Camila Mengue Scheffer,Helton Fernandes dos Santos,Fabiana Quoos Mayer,Paulo Michel Roehe +10 more
TL;DR: The characterization of the faecal virome of healthy chickens described here not only provides a description of the viruses encountered in such niche but should also represent a baseline for future studies comparing viral populations in healthy and diseased chicken flocks.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biofilm formation by Salmonella Enteritidis and Salmonella Typhimurium isolated from avian sources is partially related with their in vivo pathogenicity.
Karen Apellanis Borges,Thales Quedi Furian,Sara Neves de Souza,Rafaela Aprato Menezes,Diane Alves de Lima,Flávia Borges Fortes,Carlos Tadeu Pippi Salle,Hamilton Luiz de Souza Moraes,Vladimir Pinheiro do Nascimento +8 more
TL;DR: A novel pathogenicity index and a biofilm production assay was used to evaluate the relationships within these serotypes and detected the presence of the spiA and agfA genes in these strains.
Journal ArticleDOI
A plate of viruses: Viral metagenomics of supermarket chicken, pork and beef from Brazil.
Samuel Paulo Cibulski,Diane Alves de Lima,Helton Fernandes dos Santos,Thais Fumaco Teixeira,Caroline Tochetto,Fabiana Quoos Mayer,Paulo Michel Roehe +6 more
TL;DR: The findings reported here reveal that such agents are inevitably consumed in diets that include these types of meat, and that such viruses have history of transmission to humans.
Journal ArticleDOI
Viral metagenomics in Brazilian Pekin ducks identifies two gyrovirus, including a new species, and the potentially pathogenic duck circovirus
Samuel Paulo Cibulski,Matheus Nunes Weber,Francisco Esmaile de Sales Lima,Diane Alves de Lima,Helton Fernandes dos Santos,Thais Fumaco Teixeira,Ana Paula Muterle Varela,Caroline Tochetto,Fabiana Quoos Mayer,Paulo Michel Roehe +9 more
TL;DR: An exploratory viral metagenomics on organs of Pekin ducks from Southern Brazil detected avian gyrovirus 9 (to date detected only in human feces) and one new avian GyV13 species, to which is proposed the name aviangyrovirus 13 (GyV13), which is expected to contribute to the knowledge of the viral diversity in PekIn ducks.
