Journal ArticleDOI

Cephalosporin resistance in Neisseria gonorrhoeae infections--reply.

TL;DR: It is suggested real-time detection and antimicrobial testing use may turn the tide of cephalosporin resistance in N gonorrhoeae.
Journal ArticleDOI

The isolation rate of Escherichia coli 0157:H7 in Toronto and surrounding communities

TL;DR: Although MacConkey-Sorbitol agar was useful as a differential medium for detecting E coli 0157:H7, 14.5% of all specimens yielded nonsorbitol-fermenting isolates, it is not certain whether the routine use of MacConkeysonian agar is justified when isolation rates of E coli0157:117 are very low.
Journal ArticleDOI

Short course monotherapy with clarithromycin for localized Mycobacterium marinum skin infection.

TL;DR: Experience and review of the literature suggest that short course monotherapy with clarithromycin may be quite effective for uncomplicated soft issue infections caused by M marinum.
Journal ArticleDOI

Survey of Neisseria gonorrhoeae antimicrobial susceptibility in Ontario.

TL;DR: The minimal inhibitory concentrations of penicillin, tetracycline, erythromycin, cefoxitin, ceftriaxone and spectinomycin were determined for 300 consecutive strains of Neisseria gonorrhoeae collected from physicians' offices in Ontario, finding only four isolates were found to produce beta-lactamase.
