Journal ArticleDOI

Fusarisetin A, an Acinar Morphogenesis Inhibitor from a Soil Fungus, Fusarium sp. FN080326

TL;DR: An acinar morphogenesis inhibitor named fusarisetin A (1) that possesses both an unprecedented carbon skeleton and a new pentacyclic ring system has been identified from an in-house fractionated fungal library using a three-dimensional matrigel-induced acinar Morphogenesis assay system.
Journal ArticleDOI

Patulin induces colorectal cancer cells apoptosis through EGR-1 dependent ATF3 up-regulation

TL;DR: Treatment of the cells with antioxidants N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and glutathione (GSH) revealed that patulin induced ATF3 expression and apoptosis were dependent on ROS generation, suggesting EGR-1 and ATF3 as critical targets for the development of anti-cancer chemotherapeutics.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protuboxepin A, a marine fungal metabolite, inducing metaphase arrest and chromosomal misalignment in tumor cells

TL;DR: The mechanism by which protuboxepin A induces cancer cell growth inhibition, round-up morphology, M phase arrest, and an increase in the subG(1) population in tumor cells in a dose dependent manner are elucidated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Violaceols function as actin inhibitors inducing cell shape elongation in fibroblast cells.

TL;DR: A novel function of violaceol-I and -II is identified as actin inhibitors, which may give researchers new insights into the role of actin in tumorigenesis and lead to the development of additional anti-tumor drugs.
