Journal ArticleDOI
One-pot synthesis and characterization of size-controlled bimagnetic FePt-iron oxide heterodimer nanocrystals.
Albert Figuerola,Angela Fiore,Riccardo Di Corato,Andrea Falqui,Cinzia Giannini,Edoardo Micotti,Alessandro Lascialfari,Maurizio Corti,Roberto Cingolani,Teresa Pellegrino,Pantaleo Davide Cozzoli,Liberato Manna +11 more
TL;DR: It has been found that, as a consequence of the exchange coupling between the two materials, the HNCs exhibit tunable single-phase-like magnetic behavior, distinct from that of their individual components.
Journal ArticleDOI
CX3CL1 Is Neuroprotective in Permanent Focal Cerebral Ischemia in Rodents
Raffaela Cipriani,Pia Villa,Giuseppina Chece,Clotilde Lauro,Alessandra Paladini,Edoardo Micotti,Carlo Perego,Maria Grazia De Simoni,Bertil B. Fredholm,Fabrizio Eusebi,Cristina Limatola +10 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that acute administration of CX3CL1 reduces ischemic damage via an adenosine-dependent mechanism and that the absence of constitutive CX2CL1–CX3CR1 signaling changes the outcome of microglia-mediated effects during CX 3CL1 administration to ischeMIC brain.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeting Mannose-Binding Lectin Confers Long-Lasting Protection With a Surprisingly Wide Therapeutic Window in Cerebral Ischemia
Franca Orsini,Pia Villa,Sara Parrella,Rosalia Zangari,Elisa R. Zanier,Raffaella Gesuete,Matteo Stravalaci,Stefano Fumagalli,Roberta Ottria,José J. Reina,Alessandra Paladini,Edoardo Micotti,Renato Ribeiro-Viana,Javier Rojo,Vasile I. Pavlov,Gregory L. Stahl,Anna Bernardi,Marco Gobbi,Maria Grazia De Simoni +18 more
TL;DR: The data show an important role for MBL in the pathogenesis of brain ischemic injury and provide a strong support to the concept that MBL inhibition may be a relevant therapeutic target in humans, one with a wide therapeutic window of application.
Journal ArticleDOI
Paclitaxel Enhances Therapeutic Efficacy of the F8-IL2 Immunocytokine to EDA-Fibronectin–Positive Metastatic Human Melanoma Xenografts
Michele Moschetta,Francesca Pretto,Alexander Berndt,Kerstin Galler,Petra Richter,Andrea Bassi,Paolo Oliva,Edoardo Micotti,Giovanni Valbusa,Kathrin Schwager,Manuela Kaspar,Eveline Trachsel,Hartwig Kosmehl,Maria Rosa Bani,Dario Neri,Raffaella Giavazzi +15 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the antibody F8, which recognizes perivascular and stromal EDA-fibronectin (EDA-Fn), when conjugated to interleukin-2 (F8-IL2) can effectively inhibit the growth of EDA -Fn-expressing melanomas in combination with paclitaxel, supporting the use of immunochemotherapy in the treatment of metastatic melanoma.
Journal ArticleDOI
Bovine serum albumin-based magnetic nanocarrier for MRI diagnosis and hyperthermic therapy: a potential theranostic approach against cancer.
Mauro Comes Franchini,Giovanni Baldi,Daniele Bonacchi,Denis Gentili,Guido Giudetti,Alessandro Lascialfari,Maurizio Corti,Patrick Marmorato,Jessica Ponti,Edoardo Micotti,Uliano Guerrini,Luigi Sironi,Paolo Gelosa,Costanza Ravagli,Alfredo Ricci +14 more
TL;DR: The termtheranostic nanomedicine has been defined as an integratednanotherapeutic system, which can diagnose, provide targeted therapy and monitor the response to therapy.
