Chilblain-like lesions during COVID-19 epidemic: a preliminary study on 63 patients.
Vincenzo Piccolo,Isabella Neri,C. Filippeschi,Teresa Oranges,Giuseppe Argenziano,Vincenzo Claudio Battarra,Samantha Berti,Francesca Manunza,Anna Belloni Fortina,V. Di Lernia,V. Boccaletti,G. De Bernardis,B Brunetti,Carlo Mazzatenta,Andrea Bassi +14 more
TL;DR: An easy to access and quick tool was chosen by the investigators in order to permit the other colleagues to spend the least amount of time, given the severe health emergency.
Journal ArticleDOI
Performance assessment of photon migration instruments: the MEDPHOT protocol
Antonio Pifferi,Alessandro Torricelli,Andrea Bassi,Paola Taroni,Rinaldo Cubeddu,Heidrun Wabnitz,Dirk Grosenick,M. Möller,Rainer Macdonald,Johannes Swartling,Tomas Svensson,Stefan Andersson-Engels,Robert L. P. van Veen,Henricus J. C. M. Sterenborg,Jean-Michel Tualle,Ha Lien Nghiem,Sigrid Avrillier,Maurice Whelan,H Stamm +18 more
TL;DR: A comprehensive protocol for the performance assessment of photon migration instruments based on five criteria: accuracy, linearity, noise, stability, and reproducibility is proposed.
Journal ArticleDOI
ATP sensing in living plant cells reveals tissue gradients and stress dynamics of energy physiology
Valentina De Col,Valentina De Col,Philippe Fuchs,Thomas Nietzel,Marlene Elsaesser,Chia Pao Voon,Alessia Candeo,Ingo Seeliger,Mark D. Fricker,Christopher Grefen,Ian M. Møller,Andrea Bassi,Boon Leong Lim,Boon Leong Lim,Marco Zancani,Andreas J. Meyer,Andreas J. Meyer,Alex Costa,Stephan Wagner,Markus Schwarzländer,Markus Schwarzländer +20 more
TL;DR: Progression of hypoxia reveals substantial plasticity of ATP homeostasis in seedlings, demonstrating that ATP dynamics can be monitored in the living plant and establishing MgATP2- measurement in living plants using the fluorescent protein biosensor ATeam1.
Journal ArticleDOI
Optical biopsy of bone tissue: a step toward the diagnosis of bone pathologies
Antonio Pifferi,Alessandro Torricelli,Paola Taroni,Andrea Bassi,E. Chikoidze,Eleonora Giambattistelli,Rinaldo Cubeddu +6 more
TL;DR: The capability to noninvasively quantify bone tissue composition suggests a possible use of optical biopsy for the diagnosis of bone pathologies such as osteoporosis, which are characterized by a progressive reduction and transformation of the mineral in the bone matrix.
Journal ArticleDOI
Early modulation of pro-inflammatory microglia by minocycline loaded nanoparticles confers long lasting protection after spinal cord injury
Simonetta Papa,Ilaria Caron,Eugenio Erba,Nicolò Panini,Massimiliano De Paola,Alessandro Mariani,Claudio Colombo,Raffaele Ferrari,Diego Pozzer,Elisa R. Zanier,Francesca Pischiutta,Jacopo Lucchetti,Andrea Bassi,Gianluca Valentini,Giulio Alfredo Simonutti,Filippo Rossi,Davide Moscatelli,Gianluigi Forloni,Pietro Veglianese +18 more
TL;DR: It is shown that a treatment with nanoparticles loaded with minocycline when administered acutely in a SCI mouse model is able to efficiently modulate the resident microglial cells reducing the pro-inflammatory response, maintaining a pro-regenerative milieu and ameliorating the behavioral outcome up to 63 days post injury.
