Strategies for greenhouse gas emissions mitigation in Mediterranean agriculture: a review.
Alberto Sanz-Cobena,Luis Lassaletta,Eduardo Aguilera,A. del Prado,Josette Garnier,Gilles Billen,Ana Iglesias,Berta Sánchez,Guillermo Guardia,Diego Abalos,Daniel Plaza-Bonilla,I. Puigdueta-Bartolomé,Raúl Moral,Elena Galán,H. Arriaga,Pilar Merino,Juan Infante-Amate,Ana Meijide,Guillermo Pardo,Jorge Álvaro-Fuentes,C. Gilsanz,D. Báez,Jordi Doltra,S. González-Ubierna,Maria Luz Cayuela,S. Menéndez,Eugenio Díaz-Pinés,J. Le-Noë,Miguel Quemada,Fernando Estellés,Salvador Calvet,H. van Grinsven,Henk Westhoek,María José Sanz,Benjamín S. Gimeno,Antonio Vallejo,Pete Smith +36 more
TL;DR: In this article, an integrated assessment of the potential of different management practices for mitigating specific components of the total GHG budget (N2O and CH4 emissions and C sequestration) of Mediterranean agro-systems was performed.
Journal ArticleDOI
Opening the black box of energy throughputs in farm systems: a decomposition analysis between the energy returns to external inputs, internal biomass reuses and total inputs consumed (the Vallès County, Catalonia, c.1860 and 1999)
Enric Tello,Elena Galán,V. Sacristán,Geoff Cunfer,Gloria I. Guzmán,M. González de Molina,Fridolin Krausmann,Simone Gingrich,Roc Padró,I. Marco,D. Moreno-Delgado +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, an energy analysis of past and present farm systems aimed to contribute to their sustainability assessment is presented, where enthalpy values of energy carriers are accounted for net Final Produce going outside as well as for Biomass Reused cycling inside, and External Inputs are accounted using embodied values.
Journal ArticleDOI
A gate-tunable single-molecule diode.
Mickael L. Perrin,Elena Galán,Rienk Eelkema,J. M. Thijssen,Ferdinand C. Grozema,Herre S. J. van der Zant +5 more
TL;DR: The experimental realization of a gate-tunable single-molecule rectifier with rectification ratios as high as 600 is reported, demonstrating tunability of the rectification ratio and showing that the proposed rectification mechanism based on the orbital structure is operative in the molecule.
Journal ArticleDOI
Electrical properties and mechanical stability of anchoring groups for single-molecule electronics.
Riccardo Frisenda,Simge Tarkuc,Elena Galán,Mickael L. Perrin,Rienk Eelkema,Ferdinand C. Grozema,Herre S. J. van der Zant +6 more
TL;DR: From conductance histograms, it is found that thiol anchored molecules provide the highest conductance; a single-level model fit to current–voltage characteristics suggests that SAc groups exhibit a higher electronic coupling to the electrodes, together with better level alignment than the other three groups.
Journal ArticleDOI
Aromatic/proaromatic donors in 2-dicyanomethylenethiazole merocyanines: From neutral to strongly zwitterionic nonlinear optical chromophores
Raquel Andreu,Elena Galán,Jesús Orduna,Belén Villacampa,Raquel Alicante,Juan T. López Navarrete,Juan Casado,Javier Garín +7 more
TL;DR: Push-pull compounds, in which a proaromatic electron donor is conjugated to a 2-dicyanomethylenethiazole acceptor, have been prepared, and their properties compared to those of model compounds featuring an aromatic donor seem a promising approach towards the optimisation of zwitterionic NLO chromophores.
