Journal ArticleDOI
Pharmacological treatment of acquired QT prolongation and torsades de pointes.
TL;DR: Some episodes of TdP could be avoided by careful prescribing of QT prolonging drugs, including an individualized assessment of risks and benefits before use, performing baseline and periodic electrocardiograms and measurement of electrolytes, especially during acute illnesses, using the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time and avoiding potential drug interactions.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anterior T-Wave Inversion in Young White Athletes and Nonathletes: Prevalence and Significance
Aneil Malhotra,Harshil Dhutia,Sabiha Gati,Tee Joo Yeo,Hélder Dores,Rachel Bastiaenen,Rajay Narain,Ahmed Merghani,Gherardo Finocchiaro,Nabeel Sheikh,Alexandros Steriotis,Abbas Zaidi,Lynne Millar,Elijah R. Behr,Maite Tome,Michael Papadakis,Sanjay Sharma +16 more
TL;DR: ATWI confined to leads V1 to V2 is a normal variant or physiological phenomenon in asymptomatic white individuals without a relevant family history, and may warrant investigation.
Journal ArticleDOI
Impact of clinical and genetic findings on the management of young patients with Brugada syndrome
Antoine Andorin,Elijah R. Behr,Isabelle Denjoy,Lia Crotti,Federica Dagradi,Laurence Jesel,Frederic Sacher,Bertrand Petit,Philippe Mabo,Alice Maltret,Leonie C.H. Wong,Bruno Degand,Géraldine Bertaux,Philippe Maury,Yves Dulac,Béatrice Delasalle,Jean-Baptiste Gourraud,Dominique Babuty,Nico A. Blom,Peter J. Schwartz,Arthur A.M. Wilde,Vincent Probst +21 more
TL;DR: Spontaneous Brugada type 1 ECG pattern and symptoms at diagnosis are predictors of LTA events in the young affected by BrS and should become age-specific, and prevention of SCD may involve genetic testing and aggressive use of antipyretics and quinidine.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence and significance of Brugada-type ECG in 12,012 apparently healthy European subjects
Mark M Gallagher,Giovanni B. Forleo,Elijah R. Behr,Giulia Magliano,Lucia De Luca,Valeria Morgia,Fabio De Liberato,Francesco Romeo +7 more
TL;DR: The Brugada-type ECG pattern, as currently defined, is uncommon in a young healthy male European population and confers a moderately elevated risk of sudden death, which underscores the need to study risk predictors in asymptomatic patients with a BrugADA- type ECG.
Journal ArticleDOI
Sudden unexpected death in epilepsy genetics: Molecular diagnostics and prevention.
Alica M. Goldman,Elijah R. Behr,Christopher Semsarian,Richard D. Bagnall,Sanjay M. Sisodiya,Paul N. Cooper,Paul N. Cooper +6 more
TL;DR: It is becoming apparent that SUDEP genomic complexity parallels that of sudden cardiac death, and that there is a pauci1ty of analytically useful postmortem material.
