Journal ArticleDOI
Insignificant Change in Antarctic Snowfall Since the International Geophysical Year
Andrew J. Monaghan,David H. Bromwich,Ryan L. Fogt,Shih-Yu Wang,Paul Andrew Mayewski,Daniel A. Dixon,Alexey A. Ekaykin,Massimo Frezzotti,Ian Goodwin,Elisabeth Isaksson,Susan Kaspari,Vin Morgan,Hans Oerter,Tas van Ommen,Cornelius J. Van Der Veen,Jiahong Wen +15 more
TL;DR: There has been no statistically significant change in snowfall since the 1950s, indicating that Antarctic precipitation is not mitigating global sea level rise as expected, despite recent winter warming of the overlying atmosphere.
Journal ArticleDOI
Snow chemistry across Antarctica
Nancy A. N. Bertler,Paul Andrew Mayewski,A. Aristarain,P. Barrett,Silvia Becagli,Ronaldo T. Bernardo,Sun Bo,C. Xiao,Mark A. J. Curran,D. Qin,Daniel A. Dixon,Francisco A. Ferron,Hubertus Fischer,Markus M. Frey,Massimo Frezzotti,Felix Fundel,Christophe Genthon,R. Gragnani,Gordon S. Hamilton,Michael Handley,Sungmin Hong,Elisabeth Isaksson,J. Kang,J. Williamson,Jan-Gunnar Winther,Yuansheng Li,Eric W. Wolff,Z. Li,A. Zielinski +54 more
TL;DR: An updated compilation of published and new data of major-ion (Ca, Cl, K, Mg, Na, NO3, SO4) and methylsulfonate (MS) concentrations in snow from 520 Antarctic sites is provided by the national ITASE (International Trans-Antarctic Scientific Expedition) programmes of Australia, Brazil, China, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Norway, United Kingdom, the United States and the national Antarctic programme of Finland as mentioned in this paper.
Journal ArticleDOI
Climate variables along a traverse line in Dronning Maud Land, East Antarctica
Michiel R. van den Broeke,Jan-Gunnar Winther,Elisabeth Isaksson,J. F. Pinglot,L. Karlöf,Trond Eiken,Louk Conrads +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a simple katabatic-wind model is used to explain the variations of accumulation along the traverse line in terms of divergence/convergence of the local transport of drifting snow.
Journal ArticleDOI
A new surface accumulation map for western Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, from interpolation of point measurements
Gerit Rotschky,Per Holmlund,Elisabeth Isaksson,Robert Mulvaney,Hans Oerter,Michiel R. van den Broeke,Jan-Gunnar Winther +6 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a set of accumulation measurements for western Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, was collected, based on firn-core drilling and snow-pit sampling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Accumulation and proxy-temperature variability in Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica, determined from shallow firn cores
Elisabeth Isaksson,Michiel R. van den Broeke,Jan-Gunnar Winther,L. Karlöf,J. F. Pinglot,Niels S. Gundestrup +5 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the European Project for Ice Goring in Antarctica (EPIGA) pre-site surveying traverse worked in the area between 70°S, 5°E and 75° S, 15° E in Dronning Maud Land.
