Journal ArticleDOI
Granzyme B degradation by autophagy decreases tumor cell susceptibility to natural killer-mediated lysis under hypoxia
Joanna Baginska,Elodie Viry,Guy Berchem,Aurélie Poli,Muhammad Zaeem Noman,Kris Van Moer,Sandrine Medves,Jacques Zimmer,Anais Oudin,Simone P. Niclou,R. Chris Bleackley,Ing Swie Goping,Salem Chouaib,Bassam Janji +13 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that hypoxia impairs breast cancer cell susceptibility to NK-mediated lysis in vitro via the activation of autophagy, which provides a cutting-edge advance in the understanding of the mechanism by which hyp oxia-induced autophagic impairs NK-mediation in vitro and paves the way for the formulation of more effective NK cell-based antitumor therapies.
Journal ArticleDOI
The critical role of the tumor microenvironment in shaping natural killer cell-mediated anti-tumor immunity.
Joanna Baginska,Elodie Viry,Jérôme Paggetti,Sandrine Medves,Guy Berchem,Etienne Moussay,Bassam Janji +6 more
TL;DR: The different mechanisms involved in the TME that affect the anti-tumor immune function of NK cells are summarized.
Journal ArticleDOI
Targeting autophagy inhibits melanoma growth by enhancing NK cells infiltration in a CCL5-dependent manner
Takouhie Mgrditchian,Tsolere Arakelian,Jérôme Paggetti,Muhammad Zaeem Noman,Elodie Viry,Etienne Moussay,Kris Van Moer,Stephanie Kreis,Coralie L. Guerin,Stéphanie Buart,Caroline Robert,Christophe Borg,Philippe Vielh,Salem Chouaib,Guy Berchem,Bassam Janji +15 more
TL;DR: It is revealed that inhibiting autophagy induces a massive infiltration of natural killer immune cells into the tumor bed, and a subsequent dramatic decrease in the tumor volume of melanomas, highlighting the role of targeting autophile in breaking the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment barrier.
Journal ArticleDOI
Dual PD1/LAG3 immune checkpoint blockade limits tumor development in a murine model of chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
Marina Wierz,Sandrine Pierson,Léa Guyonnet,Elodie Viry,Audrey Lequeux,Anais Oudin,Simone P. Niclou,Markus Ollert,Guy Berchem,Bassam Janji,Coralie L. Guerin,Jérôme Paggetti,Etienne Moussay +12 more
TL;DR: Tissue-infiltrating chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) cells come in direct contact with both accessory stromal and immune cells that compose the tumor microenvironment (TME).
Journal ArticleDOI
ITPR1 Protects Renal Cancer Cells against Natural Killer Cells by Inducing Autophagy
Yosra Messai,Muhammad Zaeem Noman,Meriem Hasmim,Bassam Janji,Andrés Tittarelli,Marie Boutet,Véronique Baud,Véronique Baud,Véronique Baud,Elodie Viry,Katy Billot,Katy Billot,Katy Billot,Arash Nanbakhsh,Thouraya Ben Safta,Catherine Richon,Sophie Ferlicot,Emmanuel Donnadieu,Sophie Couvé,Betty Gardie,Florence Orlanducci,Laurence Albiges,Jerome Thiery,Daniel Olive,Bernard Escudier,Salem Chouaib +25 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the RCC cell line 786-0 with mutated VHL was resistant to NK-mediated lysis as compared with the VHL-corrected cell line (WT7), and a role for the HIF2α/ITPR1 axis in regulating R CC cell survival is strongly suggested.
