Journal ArticleDOI
A Connection between Obscuration and Star Formation in Luminous Quasars
Chien-Ting J. Chen,Ryan C. Hickox,Stacey Alberts,Christopher Harrison,David M. Alexander,Roberto J. Assef,Mark Brodwin,Michael J. I. Brown,Agnese Del Moro,William R. Forman,Varoujan Gorjian,Andy D. Goulding,Kevin N. Hainline,Christine Jones,Christopher S. Kochanek,Stephen S. Murray,Alexandra Pope,Emmanouel Rovilos,Daniel Stern +18 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a measurement of the star formation properties of a uniform sample of mid-IR-selected, optically unobscured, and obscured quasars (QSO1s and QSO2s) in the Bootes-survey region is presented.
Journal ArticleDOI
A wide search for obscured active galactic nuclei using XMM–Newton and WISE
Emmanouel Rovilos,I. Georgantopoulos,A. Akylas,James Aird,David M. Alexander,Andrea Comastri,A. Del Moro,Poshak Gandhi,Antonis Georgakakis,Christopher Harrison,James Mullaney +10 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors used a combination of the XMM-Newton serendipitous X-ray survey with the optical Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), and the infrared WISE all-sky survey to check the efficiency of the low Xray-to-infrared luminosity selection method in finding heavily obscured AGNs.
Journal ArticleDOI
Continuum and spectral line observations of the OH Megamaser galaxy Arp 220
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present MERLIN observations of the continuum (both 1.6 and 5 GHz) and OH maser emission towards Arp220 and reveal the correct spatial configuration of the various componnents of the galaxy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Photometry and Photometric Redshift Catalogs for the Lockman Hole Deep Field
Sotiria Fotopoulou,Mara Salvato,Günther Hasinger,Günther Hasinger,Emmanouel Rovilos,Marcella Brusa,Eiichi Egami,Dieter Lutz,Vadim Burwitz,J. P. Henry,J. H. Huang,Dimitra Rigopoulou,Dimitra Rigopoulou,Mattia Vaccari +13 more
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors presented broadband photometry and photometric redshifts for 187,611 sources located in ~0.5 deg2 in the Lockman Hole area, where the majority of the sources were active galactic nuclei (AGNs).
Journal ArticleDOI
Searching for mid-IR obscured AGN in the Chandra deep field North
TL;DR: In this article, the efficiency of mid-infrared selection methods for finding obscured AGN is investigated using data in the Chandra Deep Field North (DFN) data set, and it is shown that samples of AGN candidates compiled on the basis of midinfrared colours only suffer substantial contamination from normal galaxies.
