TL;DR: The incidence of hepatic veno-occlusive disease after blood or marrow transplantation (BMT) is lower than that reported in smaller studies from single centers, main risk factors have a major impact on incidence of VOD, and the use of prophylactic unfractionated heparin does not seem to reduce the incidence.
