Spontaneous Clearance of the Hepatitis C Virus Among Men Who Have Sex With Men
Eric C. Seaberg,Mallory D. Witt,Lisa P. Jacobson,Roger Detels,Charles R. Rinaldo,Joseph B. Margolick,Stephen Young,John P. Phair,Chloe L. Thio +8 more
TL;DR: The high probability of spontaneous HCV clearance together with the lack of an association between the rs12979860 SNP and spontaneous clearance among MSM who do not use injection drugs suggests that the immune mechanisms involved with a successful response to acute HCV differ by mode of virus acquisition.
Journal ArticleDOI
Predicting clinical and economic outcomes after liver transplantation using the mayo primary sclerosing cholangitis model and child-pugh score
TL;DR: Among patients with PSC undergoing liver transplantation, CP score was a better overall predictor of both survival and economic resource utilization compared with the Mayo PSC model.
Journal ArticleDOI
Changes in Hepatitis B Virus DNA Levels with Acute HIV Infection
TL;DR: It is hypothesized that acute infection with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) would diminish immunoregulation of chronic hepatitis B (CHB), resulting in higher blood hepatitis B virus (HBV) DNA levels, and that acute HIV infection is not consistently associated with an increased blood HBV DNA level.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pre-existing albuminuria predicts AIDS and non-AIDS mortality in women initiating antiretroviral therapy.
Christina M. Wyatt,Donald R. Hoover,Qiuhu Shi,Phyllis C. Tien,Phyllis C. Tien,Roksana Karim,Mardge H. Cohen,Johanna L. Goderre,Eric C. Seaberg,Jason Lazar,Mary Young,Paul E. Klotman,Kathryn Anastos +12 more
TL;DR: Urine testing may identify HIV-infected individuals at increased risk for mortality even after the initiation of HAART, and future studies should consider whether these widely available tests can identify individuals who would benefit from more aggressive management of HIV infection and comorbid conditions associated with mortality in this population.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incident Hepatitis B Virus Infection in HIV-Infected and HIV-Uninfected Men Who Have Sex With Men From Pre-HAART to HAART Periods: A Cohort Study
Oluwaseun Falade-Nwulia,Eric C. Seaberg,Anna E. Snider,Charles R. Rinaldo,John P. Phair,Mallory D. Witt,Chloe L. Thio +6 more
TL;DR: To determine risk factors for and trends in incident HBV infection in MSM since the early HIV epidemic, prospectively collected specimens from men in the prospectively followed Multicenter AIDS Cohort Study without evidence of a previousHBV infection at study entry were tested.
