Journal ArticleDOI

Beneficial effects of humidified high flow nasal oxygen in critical care patients: a prospective pilot study

TL;DR: HFNC has a beneficial effect on clinical signs and oxygenation in ICU patients with acute respiratory failure, and favorable results constitute a prerequisite to launching a randomized controlled study to investigate whether HFNC reduces intubation in these patients.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of high-flow nasal cannula oxygen therapy to prevent desaturation during tracheal intubation of intensive care patients with mild-to-moderate hypoxemia.

TL;DR: High-flow nasal cannula oxygen significantly improved preoxygenation and reduced prevalence of severe hypoxemia compared with nonrebreathing bag reservoir facemask, and its use could improve patient safety during intubation.
Journal ArticleDOI

Use of Desmopressin Acetate in Severe Hyponatremia in the Intensive Care Unit

TL;DR: Desmopressin acetate is effective in curbing the rise of PNa in patients admitted in the intensive care unit for severe hyponatremia, when the initial rate of correction is excessive.
Journal ArticleDOI

Aspiration risk factors, microbiology and empiric antibiotics for patients hospitalized with community-acquired pneumonia

Judith Marin-Corral, +274 more
- 01 Jan 2021 -
TL;DR: Hospitalized patients with ACAP or CAP or CAP/AspRF+ had similar anaerobic flora compared to patients without aspiration risk factors, and a large proportion of CAP patients received anti-anaerobic antibiotic coverage.
