Total substitution of fish oil by vegetable oils in gilthead sea bream (Sparus aurata) diets: effects on hepatic Mx expression and some immune parameters.

TL;DR: Total substitution of fish oil by vegetable oils decreased the growth of gilthead sea bream juveniles and both phagocytic activity and serum alternative complement pathway activity were significantly reduced by the inclusion of either vegetable oil individually in the sea breams diets.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of the probiotic strain Vagococcus fluvialis in the protection of European sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) against vibriosis by Vibrio anguillarum.

TL;DR: This strain, identified as Vagococcus fluvialis, showed good protection against Vibrio anguillarum 975-1 in vivo in the experimental challenge, showing a relative percent survival higher than positive control group, and is considered to be a good candidate for use as a future probiotic in aquaculture.
Journal ArticleDOI

Behavior of an Aeromonas hydrophila aroA Live Vaccine in Water Microcosms

TL;DR: The survival of this strain in aquatic microcosms prepared from fish water tanks is described and it is suggested that the inactivation of the aroA gene may be beneficial for the safety of this live vaccine for aquacultures.
Journal ArticleDOI

Infectious pancreatic necrosis virus suppresses type I interferon signalling in rainbow trout gonad cell line but not in Atlantic salmon macrophages.

TL;DR: Results indicate that, in non-stimulated RTG-P1 cells, while IPNV induces IFN transcription, activation of Mx expression is suppressed, and when stimulated by IFN, the rate of MX transcription is significantly suppressed by the virus.
Journal ArticleDOI

Effects of refrigeration, freezing-thawing and pasteurization on IgG goat colostrum preservation

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of refrigeration, several different methods of thawing, and pasteurization on the concentration of IgG in goat colostrum were evaluated.
