Journal ArticleDOI
Triple helix assembly and processing of human collagen produced in transgenic tobacco plants.
Florence Ruggiero,J.-Y Exposito,P. Bournat,V. Gruber,S Perret,Jane Comte,B. Olagnier,R. Garrone,Manfred Theisen +8 more
TL;DR: The use of tobacco plants as a novel expression system for the production of human homotrimeric collagen I is presented and suggests that plants are a valuable alternative for the recombinant production of collagen for various medical and scientific purposes.
Journal ArticleDOI
EGR1 and EGR2 involvement in vertebrate tendon differentiation.
Véronique Lejard,Véronique Lejard,Frédéric Blais,Marie-Justine Guerquin,Aline Bonnet,Marie-Ange Bonnin,Emmanuelle Havis,Maryline Malbouyres,Christelle Bonod Bidaud,Géraldine S. Maro,Pascale Gilardi-Hebenstreit,Jerome Rossert,Florence Ruggiero,Delphine Duprez +13 more
TL;DR: Results identify EGRs as novel DNA-binding proteins involved in vertebrate tendon differentiation by regulating type I collagen production.
Journal ArticleDOI
Lysyl oxidase-like protein-2 regulates sprouting angiogenesis and type IV collagen assembly in the endothelial basement membrane
Marine Bignon,Marine Bignon,Marine Bignon,Cathy Pichol-Thievend,Cathy Pichol-Thievend,Cathy Pichol-Thievend,Julie Hardouin,Marilyne Malbouyres,Nicholas Brechot,Nicholas Brechot,Nicholas Brechot,Luiz Nasciutti,Luiz Nasciutti,Luiz Nasciutti,A. TL;DR: This study provides the first evidence for the role of LOXL2 in regulating angiogenesis through collagen IV scaffolding and suggests a major role for this enzyme in the organization of endothelial basal lamina and in the downstream mechanotransductive signaling.
Journal ArticleDOI
Hydroxylated human homotrimeric collagen I in Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transient expression and in transgenic tobacco plant.
C Merle,S Perret,T Lacour,V Jonval,S Hudaverdian,R. Garrone,Florence Ruggiero,Manfred Theisen +7 more
TL;DR: This is to the authors' knowledge the first time that transient expression in tobacco was used to improve the quality of a recombinant protein produced in plants through co‐expression with an animal cell‐derived modifying enzyme.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ex vivo multiscale quantitation of skin biomechanics in wild-type and genetically-modified mice using multiphoton microscopy.
Stéphane Bancelin,Barbara Lynch,Christelle Bonod-Bidaud,Guillaume Ducourthial,Sotiris Psilodimitrakopoulos,Petr Dokládal,Jean-Marc Allain,Marie-Claire Schanne-Klein,Florence Ruggiero +8 more
TL;DR: It is shown that in normal skin, the collagen fibers continuously align with stretch, generating the observed increase in mechanical stress, which shows that the multiscale approach provides new crucial information on the biomechanics of dermis that can be extended to all collagen-rich soft tissues.
