Journal ArticleDOI

Triple helix assembly and processing of human collagen produced in transgenic tobacco plants.

TL;DR: The use of tobacco plants as a novel expression system for the production of human homotrimeric collagen I is presented and suggests that plants are a valuable alternative for the recombinant production of collagen for various medical and scientific purposes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Hydroxylated human homotrimeric collagen I in Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transient expression and in transgenic tobacco plant.

TL;DR: This is to the authors' knowledge the first time that transient expression in tobacco was used to improve the quality of a recombinant protein produced in plants through co‐expression with an animal cell‐derived modifying enzyme.
Journal ArticleDOI

Ex vivo multiscale quantitation of skin biomechanics in wild-type and genetically-modified mice using multiphoton microscopy.

TL;DR: It is shown that in normal skin, the collagen fibers continuously align with stretch, generating the observed increase in mechanical stress, which shows that the multiscale approach provides new crucial information on the biomechanics of dermis that can be extended to all collagen-rich soft tissues.
