TL;DR: More than 30% of patients with IEI with SARS-CoV-2 infection had mild coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and risk factors predisposing to severe disease/mortality in the general population also seemed to affect patients withIEI, including more younger patients.
Journal ArticleDOI
Ataluren (PTC124) Induces Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator Protein Expression and Activity in Children with Nonsense Mutation Cystic Fibrosis
Isabelle Sermet-Gaudelus,Kris De Boeck,Georges Casimir,François Vermeulen,Teresinha Leal,Agnès Mogenet,Delphine Roussel,Janine Fritsch,Laurence Hanssens,Samit Hirawat,Nilsen L. Miller,Scott Constantine,A. Reha,Temitayo Ajayi,Gary Elfring,Langdon L. Miller +15 more
TL;DR: In children with nonsense mutation CF, ataluren can induce functional CFTR production and is well tolerated.
Journal ArticleDOI
Primary ciliary dyskinesia: critical evaluation of clinical symptoms and diagnosis in patients with normal and abnormal ultrastructure.
Mieke Boon,Anne Smits,Harry Cuppens,Martine Jaspers,Marijke Proesmans,Lieven Dupont,François Vermeulen,Sabine Van daele,Anne Malfroot,Véronique Godding,Mark Jorissen,Kris De Boeck +11 more
TL;DR: It is shown that systematic performance of biopsy and cell culture increases sensitivity to detect PCD, especially the subtype with NU, which has similar clinical characteristics as other PCD types and requires biopsy plus ciliogenesis in culture for optimal diagnostic yield.
Journal ArticleDOI
