ICTV Virus Taxonomy Profile: Potyviridae.
Stephen J. Wylie,Michael J. Adams,Celia Chalam,Jan Kreuze,Juan José López-Moya,Kazusato Ohshima,Shelly Praveen,Frank Rabenstein,Drake C. Stenger,Aiming Wang,F. Murilo Zerbini +10 more
TL;DR: The Potyviridae is the largest family of RNA plant viruses, members of which have single-stranded, positive-sense RNA genomes and flexuous filamentous particles 680–900 nm long and 11–20 nm wide.
Journal ArticleDOI
A novel insertion site inside the potyvirus P1 cistron allows expression of heterologous proteins and suggests some P1 functions.
Minna-Liisa Rajamäki,Jani Kelloniemi,Agne Alminaite,Tuija Kekarainen,Frank Rabenstein,Jari P. T. Valkonen +5 more
TL;DR: The inserts in P1 diminished infectivity host-specifically, reduced virus accumulation in protoplasts and systemically infected leaves, alleviated symptoms and reduced accumulation of mRNA and HCpro in cis in a virus-free system.
Journal ArticleDOI
Potyvirus helper component-proteinase and coat protein (CP) have coordinated functions in virus-host interactions and the same CP motif affects virus transmission and accumulation
TL;DR: These results imply coordinated functions of HC-Pro and CP in accumulation and movement of PVA, because the phenotypic effects caused by simultaneous mutation of the two genes were different from the expected 'sum' of phenotypesic changes observed following mutation of only one gene at a time.
Journal ArticleDOI
Biological, serological, and molecular differences among isolates of potato A potyvirus
Minna-Liisa Rajamäki,Andres Merits,Frank Rabenstein,J. Andrejeva,Lars Paulin,Tuija Kekarainen,Jan Kreuze,R.L.S. Forster,Jari P. T. Valkonen +8 more
TL;DR: Sequence data, serological tests, and the necrotic local lesions induced in the leaves of the potato hybrid 'A6' confirmed that tamarillo mosaic virus is a strain of PVA.
Journal ArticleDOI
Virus Resistance in Cereals: Sources of Resistance, Genetics and Breeding
TL;DR: This study briefly reviews present knowledge on cereal-infecting viruses and emphasizes especially the sources of resistance or tolerance to these viruses and their use in molecular breeding schemes.
