Characterization of the Virgo seismic environment

T. Accadia, +182 more
TL;DR: In this article, an attempt is made to measure the attenuation of emitted noise at the ITF and correlate it to the distance from the source and to seismic attenuation models in soil.

A detector of gravitational waves based on coupled microwave cavities

TL;DR: In this paper, the basic principles of a superconducting coupled cavities have been discussed and the interaction of a gravitational wave with the cavity walls is studied in the proper reference frame of the detector, and the coupling between two electromagnetic normal modes induced by the wall motion is analyzed in detail.
Journal ArticleDOI

Reconstruction of the gravitational wave signal $h(t)$ during the Virgo science runs and independent validation with a photon calibrator

T. Accadia, +194 more
TL;DR: In this paper, a method used to reconstruct, in the range 10 Hz-10 kHz, the gravitational wave strain time series from the detector signals is described and the standard consistency checks of the reconstruction are discussed and used to estimate the systematic uncertainties of the $h(t)$ signal as a function of frequency.

Virgo Detector Characterization and Data Quality during the O3 run

Fausto Acernese, +492 more
TL;DR: The Virgo DetChar group during the O3 run achieved the addition of about 80 events to the catalog of transient gravitational-wave sources maintained by LIGO, Virgo and KAGRA, with a focus on the associated tools and the main prospects for future data-taking periods with an improved detector.
