Journal ArticleDOI
Definitions of Cytomegalovirus Infection and Disease in Transplant Patients for Use in Clinical Trials.
Per Ljungman,Per Ljungman,Michael Boeckh,Michael Boeckh,Hans H. Hirsch,Filip Josephson,Jens D Lundgren,Garrett Nichols,Andreas Pikis,Raymund R. Razonable,Veronica Miller,Paul D. Griffiths +11 more
TL;DR: The main changes compared to previous definitions are the introduction of a "probable disease" category and to incorporate quantitative nucleic acid testing in some end-organ disease categories.
Journal ArticleDOI
The cumulative burden of double-stranded DNA virus detection after allogeneic HCT is associated with increased mortality.
Joshua A. Hill,Bryan T. Mayer,Hu Xie,Wendy M. Leisenring,Meei-Li Huang,Terry Stevens-Ayers,Filippo Milano,Colleen Delaney,Mohamed L. Sorror,Brenda M. Sandmaier,Brenda M. Sandmaier,Garrett Nichols,Danielle M. Zerr,Keith R. Jerome,Joshua T. Schiffer,Michael Boeckh +15 more
TL;DR: In this article, the authors used quantitative PCR to test for cytomegalovirus, BK polyomavirus, human herpesvirus 6B, HHV-6A, adenovirus and Epstein-Barr virus between days 0 and 100 post-HCT.
Journal ArticleDOI
Use of Viral Load as a Surrogate Marker in Clinical Studies of Cytomegalovirus in Solid Organ Transplantation: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Yoichiro Natori,Ali Alghamdi,Mahmood Tazari,Veronica Miller,Shahid Husain,Takashi E. Komatsu,Paul D. Griffiths,Per Ljungman,Ani Orchanian-Cheff,Deepali Kumar,Atul Humar,Rekha Abichandani,Barbara D. Prichard,Raymund R. Razonable,Marcie L. Riches,Jeff Roberts,Wael Saber,Chalom Sayada,Mary Singer,Thomas Stamminger,Anna Wijatyk,Dong Yu,Bernhardt Zeiher +77 more
TL;DR: It is concluded that CMV load is an appropriate surrogate endpoint for CMV trials in organ transplant recipients due to low frequency of disease and several lines of evidence support the validity of viral load.
Journal ArticleDOI
Kinetics of Double-Stranded DNA Viremia After Allogeneic Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation.
Joshua A. Hill,Joshua A. Hill,Bryan T. Mayer,Hu Xie,Wendy M. Leisenring,Meei-Li Huang,Terry Stevens-Ayers,Filippo Milano,Colleen Delaney,Colleen Delaney,Keith R. Jerome,Keith R. Jerome,Danielle M. Zerr,Danielle M. Zerr,Garrett Nichols,Michael Boeckh,Michael Boeckh,Joshua T. Schiffer,Joshua T. Schiffer +18 more
TL;DR: Persistent high viral load dsDNA viremia episodes after allogeneic HCT predict mortality, and virus-specific kinetics can guide timing and thresholds for early intervention in studies of novel agents.
Journal ArticleDOI
Incidence of Adenovirus Infection in Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Recipients: Findings from the AdVance Study
Petr Sedlacek,Toni Petterson,Marie Robin,Ponni Sivaprakasam,Enrikas Vainorius,Tom Brundage,Aastha Chandak,Essy Mozaffari,Garrett Nichols,Sebastian Voigt +9 more
TL;DR: The incidence of AdV infection decreased stepwise with increasing age; younger adults (age 18 to 34 years) had a similar incidence as older pediatric patients (<18 years), and this study provides a contemporary multicenter understanding of the incidence and risk factors for Adv infection following allo-HCT.
