Journal ArticleDOI
Ecological risk assessment of pharmaceuticals in the receiving environment of pharmaceutical wastewater in Pakistan.
Muhammad Ashfaq,Muhammad Ashfaq,Khujasta Nawaz Khan,Muhammad Saif Ur Rehman,Ghulam Mustafa,Muhammad Faizan Nazar,Qian Sun,Javed Iqbal,Sikandar I. Mulla,Chang-Ping Yu +9 more
TL;DR: Results show a high level of ecological risk due to the discharge of untreated wastewater from pharmaceutical units, which may further lead to food web contamination and drug resistance in pathogens and the government should strictly enforce environmental legislation on these pharmaceutical units.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occurrence, spatial variation and risk assessment of pharmaceuticals and personal care products in urban wastewater, canal surface water, and their sediments: A case study of Lahore, Pakistan.
Muhammad Ashfaq,Yan Li,Muhammad Saif Ur Rehman,Muhammad Zubair,Ghulam Mustafa,Muhammad Faizan Nazar,Chang-Ping Yu,Qian Sun +7 more
TL;DR: Ecological risk assessment in terms of risk quotient revealed that most of the PPCPs may cause high risk to the aquatic community, therefore enforcement of environmental legislations for treatment of wastewater is recommended.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occurrence and ecological risk assessment of fluoroquinolone antibiotics in hospital waste of Lahore, Pakistan
Muhammad Ashfaq,Khujasta Nawaz Khan,Sana Rasool,Ghulam Mustafa,Muhammad Saif-Ur-Rehman,Muhammad Faizan Nazar,Qian Sun,Chang-Ping Yu +7 more
TL;DR: Wastewater and sludge samples of two major hospitals of Lahore, Pakistan were analyzed by developing an HPLC-UV method for the possible occurrence of five frequently used fluoroquinolone antibiotics and the risk quotient (RQ) values were very high particularly for ofloxacin and ciprofloxacIn.
Journal ArticleDOI
Pyridine sulfonamide as a small key organic molecule for the potential treatment of type-II diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer’s disease: In vitro studies against yeast α-glucosidase, acetylcholinesterase and butyrylcholinesterase
Sadaf Riaz,Islam Ullah Khan,Marek Bajda,Muhammad Ashraf,Qurat-ul-Ain,Ayesha Shaukat,Tanzeel Ur Rehman,Sadaf Mutahir,Sajjad Hussain,Ghulam Mustafa,Muhammad Yar +10 more
TL;DR: The efficient high yield synthesis of novel pyridine 2,4,6-tricarbohydrazide derivatives (4a-4i) along with their α-glucosidase, acetylcholinesterase, AChE and butyrylcholiersterase inhibition activities showed the potential of synthesized compounds in controlling both type-II diabetes mellitus and Alzheimer's disease.
Mortality of Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens) (Neuroptera: Chrysopidae) after exposure to some insecticides; laboratory studies
TL;DR: All insecticides tested for their toxicity against predator Chrysoperla carnea through leaf dip bioassay method were found toxic after 48 hours except buprofezin and thiodicarb.
