Journal ArticleDOI
Novel plasmid-mediated colistin resistance mcr-4 gene in Salmonella and Escherichia coli, Italy 2013, Spain and Belgium, 2015 to 2016.
Alessandra Carattoli,Laura Villa,Claudia Feudi,Claudia Feudi,Ludovica Curcio,Serenella Orsini,Andrea Luppi,Giovanni Pezzotti,Chiara Francesca Magistrali +8 more
TL;DR: Immediate implementation of mcr-screening including this novel gene variant is required for Salmonella and E. coli from humans and food-producing animals in Europe.
Journal ArticleDOI
Occurrence and resistance to antibiotics of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli in animals and meat in northeastern Italy.
TL;DR: A study was carried out in northeastern Italy during 2000 and 2001 to investigate the occurrence of Campylobacter jejuni and Campyloblacter coli in animals, cattle, pigs, and broilers, and raw meat, beef, pork, and chicken.
Journal ArticleDOI
Severe weight loss in lambs infected with Giardia duodenalis assemblage B
Fabio Aloisio,G. Filippini,Pietro Antenucci,Elvio Lepri,Giovanni Pezzotti,Simone M. Cacciò,Edoardo Pozio +6 more
TL;DR: Results show that G. duodenalis can cause significant economic losses in sheep farming, and treatment with fenbendazole at a dose of 10mg/kg for 3 consecutive days, successfully cleared the infection.
Journal ArticleDOI
Identification of Group A Porcine Rotavirus Strains Bearing a Novel VP4 (P) Genotype in Italian Swine Herds
Vito Martella,Max Ciarlet,Krisztián Bányai,Eleonora Lorusso,Serenella Arista,Antonio Lavazza,Giovanni Pezzotti,Nicola Decaro,Alessandra Cavalli,Maria Stella Lucente,Marialaura Corrente,Gabriella Elia,Michele Camero,Maria Tempesta,Canio Buonavoglia +14 more
TL;DR: The amino acid sequence of the full-length VP4 protein had low identity with the homologous sequences of representative strains of the remaining P genotypes, providing evidence for a novel P genotype.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prevalence of group C rotaviruses in weaning and post-weaning pigs with enteritis
Vito Martella,Krisztián Bányai,Eleonora Lorusso,Anna Lucia Bellacicco,Nicola Decaro,Michele Camero,Giancarlo Bozzo,P. Moschidou,Serenella Arista,Giovanni Pezzotti,Antonio Lavazza,Canio Buonavoglia +11 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that infection with group C rotavirus is frequent in Italian piggeries, and the considerable rate of multiple infections requires further studies to investigate the pathogenic potential of group CRotavirus in pigs, alone or in mixed infection, and raises challenges in the laboratory diagnosis of porcine enteric infections.
