Galactoside inhibitors for the treatment of alpha-synucleinopthies

TL;DR: In this article, a pharmaceutical composition for use in a method for treatment or prevention of a-synucleinopathies wherein the composition comprises a molecule for pharmacological modulation of galectin activity in a mammalian brain.
Journal ArticleDOI

Synthesis and Biological Studies of O3-Aryl Galactosides as Galectin Inhibitors

TL;DR: In this article, a library of O3-arylated galactosides with varying substitution patterns was designed to study such inhibitions further, and a selection of derivatives were evaluated for inhibitory potencies against galectins-1, 3, 4 N, 4 C (C-terminal domain), 7, 8 N, 8 C, 9 N, and 9 C and one compound with promising affinity and selectivity for both the N- and Cterminal domains of galectin-9 was discovered.
Journal ArticleDOI

Evaluating the affinity and kinetics of small molecule glycomimetics for human and mouse galectin-3 using surface plasmon resonance.

TL;DR: In this article , the authors compare human and mouse galectin-3 affinity measures between FP and SPR, as well as investigate compound kinetics, and find that FP is a viable alternative to SPR for early drug discovery screening and determining KD values.
