Journal ArticleDOI

Magnetic resonance monitoring of focused ultrasound/magnetic nanoparticle targeting delivery of therapeutic agents to the brain

TL;DR: Synergistic targeting and image monitoring are powerful techniques for the delivery of macromolecular chemotherapeutic agents into the CNS under the guidance of MRI and significantly increased the deposition of therapeutic MNPs in brains with intact or compromised blood–brain barriers.
Journal ArticleDOI

Blood-Brain Barrier Disruption with Focused Ultrasound Enhances Delivery of Chemotherapeutic Drugs for Glioblastoma Treatment

TL;DR: Focused ultrasound significantly enhanced the penetration of BCNU through the blood-brain barrier in normal and tumor-implanted brains without causing hemorrhaging, demonstrating a means of increasing localized chemotherapeutic drug delivery for brain tumor treatment and strongly supports the feasibility of this treatment in a clinical setting.
Journal ArticleDOI

A thermoresponsive bubble-generating liposomal system for triggering localized extracellular drug delivery.

TL;DR: A thermoresponsive bubble-generating liposomal system is proposed for triggering localized extracellular drug delivery and may also provide an ability to monitor a temperature-controlled drug delivery process.
Journal ArticleDOI

Concurrent blood-brain barrier opening and local drug delivery using drug-carrying microbubbles and focused ultrasound for brain glioma treatment.

TL;DR: This study provides a new approach for designing multifunctional MBs to facilitate FUS-mediated chemotherapy for brain tumor treatment and in tumor-bearing animals, BCNU-MBs with FUS controlled tumor progression and improved median survival.
Journal ArticleDOI

Combining microbubbles and ultrasound for drug delivery to brain tumors: Current progress and overview

TL;DR: Current preclinical studies which demonstrate the reports by using FUS with MB-facilitated drug delivery technology in brain tumor treatment and newly developed multifunctional theranostic MBs for FUS-induced BBB opening for brain tumor therapy are reviewed.
