Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a Weyl Fermion Semimetal and Topological Fermi Arcs
Su-Yang Xu,Ilya Belopolski,Nasser Alidoust,Madhab Neupane,Chenglong Zhang,Raman Sankar,Shin-Ming Huang,Chi-Cheng Lee,Guoqing Chang,Baokai Wang,Guang Bian,Hao Zheng,Daniel S. Sanchez,Fangcheng Chou,Hsin Lin,Shuang Jia,M. Zahid Hasan +16 more
TL;DR: The experimental discovery of a Weyl semimetal, tantalum arsenide (TaAs), using photoemission spectroscopy, which finds that Fermi arcs terminate on the Weyl fermion nodes, consistent with their topological character.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a Weyl fermion semimetal and topological Fermi arcs
Su-Yang Xu,Ilya Belopolski,Nasser Alidoust,Madhab Neupane,Madhab Neupane,Guang Bian,Chenglong Zhang,Raman Sankar,Guoqing Chang,Zhujun Yuan,Chi-Cheng Lee,Shin-Ming Huang,Hao Zheng,Jie Ma,Daniel S. Sanchez,Baokai Wang,Baokai Wang,Arun Bansil,Fangcheng Chou,Pavel Shibayev,Hsin Lin,Shuang Jia,M. Zahid Hasan +22 more
TL;DR: In this article, the experimental discovery of a Weyl semimetal, tantalum arsenide (TaAs), was reported, which is a new state of matter that hosts Weyl fermions as emergent quasiparticles and admits a topological classification that protects Fermi arcs on the boundary of a bulk sample.
Journal ArticleDOI
Discovery of a Weyl fermion state with Fermi arcs in niobium arsenide
Su-Yang Xu,Nasser Alidoust,Ilya Belopolski,Zhujun Yuan,Guang Bian,Tay-Rong Chang,Tay-Rong Chang,Hao Zheng,Vladimir N. Strocov,Daniel S. Sanchez,Guoqing Chang,Chenglong Zhang,Daixiang Mou,Daixiang Mou,Yun Wu,Yun Wu,Lunan Huang,Lunan Huang,Chi-Cheng Lee,Shin-Ming Huang,Baokai Wang,Baokai Wang,Arun Bansil,Horng-Tay Jeng,Horng-Tay Jeng,Titus Neupert,Adam Kaminski,Adam Kaminski,Hsin Lin,Shuang Jia,M. Zahid Hasan +30 more
TL;DR: In this article, the Weyl semimetal state in an inversion-symmetry-breaking single-crystalline solid, Niobium arsenide (NbAs), has been discovered.
Journal ArticleDOI
Topological nodal-line fermions in spin-orbit metal PbTaSe2.
Guang Bian,Tay-Rong Chang,Tay-Rong Chang,Raman Sankar,Su-Yang Xu,Hao Zheng,Titus Neupert,Ching-Kai Chiu,Shin-Ming Huang,Guoqing Chang,Ilya Belopolski,Daniel S. Sanchez,Madhab Neupane,Nasser Alidoust,Chang Liu,Bao Kai Wang,Bao Kai Wang,Chi-Cheng Lee,Horng-Tay Jeng,Horng-Tay Jeng,Chenglong Zhang,Zhujun Yuan,Shuang Jia,Arun Bansil,Fangcheng Chou,Hsin Lin,M. Zahid Hasan +26 more
TL;DR: The detailed angle-resolved photoemission measurements, first-principles simulations and theoretical topological analysis illustrate the physical mechanism underlying the formation of the topological nodal-line states and associated surface states for the first time, thus paving the way towards exploring the exotic properties of the bottom-line fermions in condensed matter systems.
Journal ArticleDOI
Signatures of the Adler-Bell-Jackiw chiral anomaly in a Weyl fermion semimetal.
Chenglong Zhang,Su-Yang Xu,Ilya Belopolski,Zhujun Yuan,Ziquan Lin,Bingbing Tong,Guang Bian,Nasser Alidoust,Chi-Cheng Lee,Shin-Ming Huang,Tay-Rong Chang,Tay-Rong Chang,Guoqing Chang,Chuang-Han Hsu,Horng-Tay Jeng,Horng-Tay Jeng,Madhab Neupane,Madhab Neupane,Madhab Neupane,Daniel S. Sanchez,Hao Zheng,Junfeng Wang,Hsin Lin,Chi Zhang,Hai-Zhou Lu,Shun-Qing Shen,Titus Neupert,M. Zahid Hasan,Shuang Jia +28 more
TL;DR: Signs of the Weyl fermion chiral anomaly in the magneto-transport of TaAs are reported and it is observed that high mobility TaAs samples become more conductive as a magnetic field is applied along the direction of the current for certain ranges of the field strength.
