Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic role of Oct4, CD44 and c-Myc in radio-chemo-resistant oral cancer patients and their tumourigenic potential in immunodeficient mice
Sharada Sawant,Ravindran Caspa Gokulan,Harsh Dongre,Milind M. Vaidya,Devendra Chaukar,Kumar Prabhash,Arvind Ingle,Shriya Joshi,Prerana Dange,Shreyas Joshi,Archana K. Singh,Vidhi Makani,Shilpi Sharma,Ashok Jeyaram,Shubhada Kane,Anil K. D'Cruz +15 more
TL;DR: Oct4, c-Myc and CD44 can be used to predict local recurrence and the outcome of treatment in oral cancer patients and these molecules may find use as molecular targets for effective therapy.
Journal ArticleDOI
Metabolic reprogramming of normal oral fibroblasts correlated with increased glycolytic metabolism of oral squamous cell carcinoma and precedes their activation into carcinoma associated fibroblasts
Zhuoyuan Zhang,Zhuoyuan Zhang,Zhenjie Gao,Zhenjie Gao,Saroj Rajthala,Dipak Sapkota,Harsh Dongre,Himalaya Parajuli,Salwa Suliman,Ridhima Das,Longjiang Li,Laurence A. Bindoff,Laurence A. Bindoff,Daniela Elena Costea,Xiao Liang,Xiao Liang +15 more
TL;DR: This study showed that normal oral fibroblasts and OSCC become metabolically coupled through several processes before acquiring an activated phenotype and without inducing senescence, and indicated, for the first time, the existence of ATP and ROS homeostasis during carcinogenesis.
Journal ArticleDOI
Establishment of 3D Co-Culture Models from Different Stages of Human Tongue Tumorigenesis: Utility in Understanding Neoplastic Progression
Sharada Sawant,Harsh Dongre,Archana K. Singh,Shriya Joshi,Daniela Elena Costea,Daniela Elena Costea,Snehal Mahadik,Chetan Ahire,Vidhi Makani,Prerana Dange,Shilpi Sharma,Devendra Chaukar,Milind M. Vaidya +12 more
TL;DR: The results showed that the major steps of tongue tumorigenesis can be reproduced in-vitro, and co-culture models representing normal, dysplastic, and malignant tissues could help to answer various biological questions especially related to tongue tumors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Vimentin-mediated regulation of cell motility through modulation of beta4 integrin protein levels in oral tumor derived cells
Crismita Dmello,Sharada Sawant,Hunain Alam,Prakash Gangadaran,Richa Tiwari,Harsh Dongre,Neha Rana,Sai Barve,Daniela Elena Costea,Davendra Chaukar,Shubhada Kane,Harish C. Pant,Milind M. Vaidya +12 more
TL;DR: A novel role of vimentin is shown in modulating cell motility by destabilizing β4 integrin-mediated adhesive interactions and may prove to be useful markers for prognostication of human oral cancer.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prognostic significance of elevated serum CD44 levels in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma.
Sharada Sawant,Chetan Ahire,Harsh Dongre,Shriya Joshi,Sayli Jamghare,Pallavi Rane,Shubhada Kane,Devendra Chaukar +7 more
TL;DR: The data suggest that the ELISA-based estimation of pre-surgical serum CD44 concentration could be a non-invasive reliable method distinguishing high-risk recurrent tumours which can further assist in post-surgery treatment planning.
