TL;DR: The prevalence, hazard ratios, and population-attributable fractions (PAFs) for cardiovascular disease and mortality associated with a cluster of behavioural factors, metabolic factors, socioeconomic and psychosocial factors, and household and ambient pollution are described.
Journal ArticleDOI

TL;DR: Major cardiovascular events were more common among those with low levels of education in all types of country studied, but much more so in low-income countries, and differences in outcomes between educational groups were not explained by differences in risk factors.

TL;DR: While the burden of NCD care may appear greatest in LMICs and China, the burden in LICs may be masked by care foregone due to costs, showing that financial protection from healthcare costs for people with NCDs is inadequate.

Martin O'Donnell,Martin O'Donnell,Andrew Mente,Sumathy Rangarajan,Matthew J. McQueen,Neil O'Leary,Lu Yin,Xiaoyun Liu,Sumathi Swaminathan,Rasha Khatib,Annika Rosengren,John Ferguson,Andrew Smyth,Patricio Lopez-Jaramillo,Rafael Diaz,Alvaro Avezum,Fernando Lanas,Noor Hassim Ismail,Khalid Yusoff,Antonio L. TL;DR: It is suggested that the simultaneous target of low sodium intake (<2 g/day) with high potassium intake (>3.5 g/ day) is extremely uncommon, and combined moderate sodium intake (3-5 g / day) withhigh potassium intake is associated with the lowest risk of mortality and cardiovascular events.
