Workshop Report on Atomic Bomb Dosimetry--Review of Dose Related Factors for the Evaluation of Exposures to Residual Radiation at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
George D. Kerr,Stephen D. Egbert,Isaf Al-Nabulsi,Ian Bailiff,Harold L. Beck,Irina Belukha,John E. Cockayne,Harry M. Cullings,Keith F. Eckerman,Evgeniya Granovskaya,Eric J. Grant,Masaharu Hoshi,Dean C. Kaul,Victor Kryuchkov,Daniel Mannis,Megu Ohtaki,Keiko Otani,Sergey Shinkarev,Steven L. Simon,Gregory D. Spriggs,Valeriy F. Stepanenko,Daniela Stricklin,Joseph F. Weiss,Ronald L. Weitz,Clemens Woda,Patricia R. Worthington,Keiko Yamamoto,Robert W. Young +27 more
TL;DR: Measurements made using thermal luminescent and optically stimulated luminescence, like earlier measurements, could be expanded to detect possible radiation exposures to beta particles and to determine the extent of the various residual radiation areas at Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Journal ArticleDOI
Workshop report on atomic bomb dosimetry-residual radiation exposure: recent research and suggestions for future studies.
George D. Kerr,Stephen D. Egbert,Isaf Al-Nabulsi,Harold L. Beck,Harry M. Cullings,Satoru Endo,Masaharu Hoshi,Tetsuji Imanaka,Dean C. Kaul,Satoshi Maruyama,Glen I. Reeves,Werner Ruehm,Aya Sakaguchi,Steven L. Simon,Gregory D. Spriggs,Daniel O. Stram,Tetsuji Tonda,Joseph F. Weiss,Ronald L. Weitz,Robert W. Young +19 more
TL;DR: Recently reported studies of residual radiation exposure in Hiroshima and Nagasaki were reviewed at a technical session at the 57th Annual Meeting of the Health Physics Society in Sacramento, California, and a one-day workshop was held to evaluate their potential use in clarifying the residual radiation exposures to the atomic-bomb survivors.
Journal ArticleDOI
A Million Persons, A Million Dreams: A Vision For A National Center Of Radiation Epidemiology And Biology
John D. Boice,Brian T. Quinn,Isaf Al-Nabulsi,Armin Ansari,Paul K Blake,Steve R. Blattnig,Emily A. Caffrey,Sarah S. Cohen,Ashley P. Golden,Kathryn D. Held,Derek W. Jokisch,Derek W. Jokisch,Richard W. Leggett,Michael T. Mumma,Caleigh Samuels,John E. Till,Sergei Y. Tolmachev,R. Craig Yoder,Joey Y. Zhou,Lawrence T. Dauer +19 more
TL;DR: The Million Person Study (MPS) of U.S. Radiation Workers and Veterans was designed to examine health effects following chronic exposures in contrast with brief exposures as experienced by the Japanese atomic bomb survivors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Low-dose radiation research and radiation protection policy implementation at the Department of Energy.
Isaf Al-Nabulsi,Derek Favret +1 more
TL;DR: Information is provided on a number of significant ongoing initiatives examining health effects associated with low-dose ionizing radiation exposure, and a list of DOE policies and standards for protection of its workers, the public, and the environment.
