Alteration of corticothalamic perfusion ratios during a PTSD flashback

TL;DR: A single patient experienced an actual flashback following exposure to combat sounds, exhibiting tearfulness, diaphoresis, tachypnea, and severe agitation, and this single case suggests a possible role for corticothalamic dysfunction in flashbacks.
Journal ArticleDOI

The neurosteroids allopregnanolone and dehydroepiandrosterone modulate resting-state amygdala connectivity.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of allopregnanolone and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) on the connectivity of the brain at rest were investigated.
Journal ArticleDOI

Alterations in cognitive flexibility in a rat model of post-traumatic stress disorder.

TL;DR: Examination of the behavioral effects of a rodent model of PTSD on performance of two forms of cognitive flexibility: reversal learning and strategy set-shifting shows that SPS leads to a complex and intriguing pattern of deficits in flexible responding and suggests that impairments in executive functioning associated with PTSD could, in part, be a neuro-cognitive consequence of trauma exposure.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relationship between anxiety, depression, and health satisfaction among veterans with PTSD.

TL;DR: While both depression and anxiety are related to more negative reported health satisfaction among veterans in a PTSD clinic, depression appears to be a main contributor.
Journal ArticleDOI

Relations between the underlying dimensions of PTSD and major depression using an epidemiological survey of deployed Ohio National Guard soldiers

TL;DR: Investigation of the relationship between the underlying symptom dimensions of posttraumatic stress disorder and dimensions of major depressive disorder indicates that PTSD's dysphoria factor is related to depression specifically by way of depression's somatic construct.
