Journal ArticleDOI

Simultaneous detection of low and high molecular weight carbonylated compounds derived from lipid peroxidation by electrospray ionization-tandem mass spectrometry.

TL;DR: A novel technique to specifically derivatize both low molecular and high molecular weight carbonylated LPP with 7-(diethylamino)coumarin-3-carbohydrazide (CHH) and analyze all compounds by electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) in positive ion mode is reported.
Journal ArticleDOI

Simvastatin reduces circulating oxysterol levels in men with hypercholesterolaemia.

TL;DR: A novel method was used to investigate the hypothesis that simvastatin may reduce the concentrations of specific plasma free oxysterols in hypercholesterolaemia using a fast, sensitive and specific quantitative LC-MS/MS, multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) method.
Journal ArticleDOI

Phospholipid oxidation and carotenoid supplementation in Alzheimer’s disease patients

TL;DR: Serum POVPC is higher in AD patients compared to control subjects, is not reduced by carotenoid supplementation and correlates with cognitive function and correlates inversely with mini‐mental state examination.
Journal ArticleDOI

Porphyromonas gingivalis gingipains cause defective macrophage migration towards apoptotic cells and inhibit phagocytosis of primary apoptotic neutrophils

TL;DR: Data indicate that P. gingivalis may promote the chronic inflammation seen in periodontal disease patients by multiple mechanisms, including rapid, potent gingipain-mediated inflammation, coupled with receptor cleavage leading to defective clearance of apoptotic cells and reduced anti-inflammatory responses.
