Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Variants Associated with Lp(a) Lipoprotein Level and Coronary Disease
Robert Clarke,John F. Peden,J C Hopewell,Theodosios Kyriakou,Anuj Goel,Simon Heath,Sarah Parish,Simona Barlera,MariaGrazia Franzosi,Stephan Rust,Derrick A Bennett,Angela Silveira,Anders Mälarstig,Fiona R. Green,M Lathrop,Bruna Gigante,Karin Leander,U de Faire,Udo Seedorf,Anders Hamsten,Rory Collins,Hugh Watkins,Martin Farrall +22 more
TL;DR: Two LPA variants were strongly associated with both an increased level of Lp(a) lipoprotein and an increased risk of coronary disease, and the association between the LPA genotype score and the risk of heart disease was abolished.
Journal ArticleDOI
Genetic Loci Associated With C-Reactive Protein Levels and Risk of Coronary Heart Disease
Paul Elliott,John C. Chambers,Weihua Zhang,Robert Clarke,J C Hopewell,John F. Peden,Jeanette Erdmann,Peter S. Braund,James C. Engert,Derrick A Bennett,Lachlan J. M. Coin,Deborah Ashby,Ioanna Tzoulaki,Ian J. Brown,Shahrul Mt-Isa,Mark I. McCarthy,Leena Peltonen,Nelson B. Freimer,Martin Farrall,Aimo Ruokonen,Anders Hamsten,Noha Lim,Philippe Froguel,Dawn Waterworth,Peter Vollenweider,Gerard Waeber,Marjo-Riitta Järvelin,Vincent Mooser,James Scott,Alistair S. Hall,Heribert Schunkert,Sonia S. Anand,Rory Collins,Nilesh J. Samani,Hugh Watkins,Jaspal S. Kooner +35 more
TL;DR: In this article, the most closely associated single-nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) in the CRP locus and published data on other CRP variants involving a total of 28,112 cases and 100,823 controls, were investigated to investigate the association of these variants with coronary heart disease.
Journal ArticleDOI
Forty-Three Loci Associated with Plasma Lipoprotein Size, Concentration, and Cholesterol Content in Genome-Wide Analysis
Daniel I. Chasman,Guillaume Paré,Samia Mora,J C Hopewell,Gina M. Peloso,Robert Clarke,L. Adrienne Cupples,Anders Hamsten,Sekar Kathiresan,Anders Mälarstig,Jose M. Ordovas,Samuli Ripatti,Alex Parker,Joseph P. Miletich,Paul M. Ridker +14 more
TL;DR: This article performed a genome-wide association study of 17 lipoprotein measures determined by NMR together with LDL, HDL, C, triglycerides, ApoA1, and ApoB in 17,296 women from the Women's Genome Health Study.
Journal Article
No Impact of KIF6 Genotype on Vascular Risk or Statin Benefit in the Heart Protection Study
Journal Article
Genetic loci influencing C-reactive protein levels and coronary heart disease risk: results of genetic association and Mendelian randomisation study with meta-analysis in 80 614 people
Paul Elliott,John C. Chambers,Weihua Zhang,Robert Clarke,J F Peden,J Erdmann,Peter S. Braund,Engert Jc,J C Hopewell,Lachlan J. M. Coin,Deborah Ashby,Mark I. McCarthy,Martin Farrall,Jarvelin M-R.,James Scott,Alistair S. Hall,Heribert Schunkert,Sonia S. Anand,Rory Collins,Nilesh J. Samani,Hugh Watkins,Jaspal S. Kooner +21 more
TL;DR: The weak association between variants in the CRP locus and CHD risk suggests that any causal association of CRP with atherosclerosis is likely to be small.
